On October 5th to 9th, INTERMOT was successfully held in Cologne, Germany. The five day grand meeting attracted 1,133 enterprises from 40 countries. 67 percent of the exhibitors came from country outside of Germany. According to the official data of INTERMOT 2016, including estimates for the last day of the fair, over 220,000 purchasers and visitors from 95 countries attended INTERMOT 2016. The share of trade visitors was around 26 percent, 42 percent of them came from abroad. October 4th, as the press day of INTERMOT 2016, many motorcycle enterprises chose to release their new products on this day. In the opening ceremony of press conference, the leaders from BMW、DUCATI、HARLEY-DAVIDSON、HONDA、KAWASAKI、KTM and other brands made the opening speeches. They all expressed, INTERMOT is a best platform to information exchange and product release. INTERMOT has an important meaning to motorcycle industry.
INTERMOT Cologne opened halls 5-10 of the Cologne fair grounds with a total gross floor area of 129,000 square meters, besides, an additional 70,000 m² of outdoor space was used for the supporting programme. The exhibition organizer distributed the market leaders through all halls in order to ensure a steady visitor flow to all areas and segments. BMW、Yamaha、Polaris、Victory and Indian brands are exhibiting in hall 6, The Piaggio Group, Suzuki and ZERO are points of attraction in hall 7, while Ducati, Kawasaki and Kymco are positioned in hall 8. Harley-Davidson, Honda, Husqvarna, KTM and Triumph present their range of services in hall 9. What’s worth mentioning is that trade visitor fans can find INTERMOT customized in hall 10, an autonomous show within the show for the customizing-scene. It provides a visual feast for INTERMOT. Trade visitors can find electric two-wheelers from various countries displaying in hall 5.2. Besides, many brands provide test ride zone, which can make trade visitors and end customers experience the feeling of riding electric vehicles.
INTERMOT not only provided an opportunity for motorcycle enterprises to display their products, but also prepared abundant performances and interactive shows. The exhibiting companies of INTERMOT were accordingly satisfied. Headed by BMW, Ducati, Harley-Davidson, Suzuki, Triump、Yamaha and other big exhibitor, the manufacturers presented numerous premieres and impressed both the international trade and the interested public.
What’s worth mentioning is that the INTERMOT e-Motion, the segment for electric two-wheelers and drive technologies, presented the new products in the field of urban mobility and active leisure time activities. The exhibitors were delighted with the high number of visitors. Whereas pedelecs and e-bikes have already been successfully introduced within the sports bike sector. INTERMOT not only displayed the newest products in various halls, visitors can also jump into action themselves throughout the entire outdoor space of Koelnmesse and test brand new models in all vehicle segments. There were also corresponding campaign areas for beginners without a driving license and kids.
Except for the various motorcycles, customized motorcycles, and electric vehicles, the outdoor space was also lively. The fabulous stunts, excellent moves were extremely eye-catching, which won lots of applauses. This contributed to the successful holding of INTERMOT.
INTERMOT 2016 set a new record of visitors. Among over 220, 000 visitors from 95 countries, significant increases were particularly recorded in the number of trade visitors from North and South America as well as from Asia. INTERMOT registered a remarkable increase in the number of European trade visitors from Italy (plus 8 percent), Belgium (plus 10 percent) and France (plus 7 percent). As an important grand meeting in the motorcycle industry, INTERMOT is an important channel for motorcycle and e-vehicle manufactures to go global, and realize international trade. Meanwhile, it also plays a crucial role in pushing the development of motorcycle and e-vehicles.
