In May, at MOTOR CHINA, BENDA unveiled two 450cc motorcycles, the Chinchilla450 and the Napoleon450. The price for the Napoleon450 remains under wraps, expected to be announced in September at the CIMAMotor show.

The Napoleon450 adopts the singular saddle seat design common to pure Bobber models, displaying a unique and striking overall exterior design.

The powertrain houses the same V-twin, liquid-cooled engine with an actual displacement of 448cc, peak power of 37kW at 8500rpm, and a maximum torque of 45Nm at 7000rpm. A sliding clutch comes standard.

As for braking, the front has a single floating disc brake paired with an opposing four-piston caliper, while the rear features a single disc brake with a single-piston caliper. The tire specification is 150/80-R16 for the front and 180/65-R16 for the rear, with ABS and TCS on both ends.

Most notably, BENDA has introduced for the first time its modular chassis concept (BD-MOP). This concept, originally from the automobile industry, entails using the same chassis platform, and through Lego-like modular arrangement and structural layout, such as offset or central shock modules, or different powertrain and main frame components, a variety of motorcycles of different styles and displacements can be produced on the same platform. This innovation opens up a new world of possibilities for future platforms’ extensibility, providing a broader canvas for motorcycle design.

  • Looks pretty cool. I would love to testdrive it see how it performs, after the winter in Shenyang is less cold. Are there more specs to be found somewhere?

  • How much does a 450cc Napoleon motorbike cost to Jakarta?

  • Ok. I tested the Napolen Benda 450cc for a four hour trip around Liaoning.

First off impression is that the bike is slender, light and elegant. Design wise chinese bikes do not have to be shy of their foreign competition. Especially Benda and QJ offer a lot of special designs, that look like fresh out of the customs workshop. The black-gold colour scheme fits perfectly to the Bobber Look.

With around 196kg the bike feels sleek and easy to handle.

Starting the motor came with a surprise, the double V-Twin engine has a full roar immediately when starting up and the sound was not annyoing at all, even on the longer stretches. As expected the bike maneuvers well also in the bends and the suspension absorbs pretty well most bumps unlike other bobbers. At 150kmh i still had power left for acceleration and the overall feeling was similar to a Honda CM 500 although i prefer the Benda sound.

The saddle was uncomfortable on longer stretches and in the sun the heat directly towards the seat wasn’t comfortable. So i tended to sit with legs a bit stretched out to avoid the heat. Also the legrest was a little too close for my height (185cm), although the handlebar was at comfortable distance.

Rolling out there was a little electric buzzing sound, but i don’t know if that came from the ventilatiom system.

I can definitely recommend this bike for riders around 180cm and I would buy it immediately, if another saddle option was available, but i guess i could take it to a workshop and get one custom made.

In total i really enjoyed the Benda Napoleon and if i could speak chinese i guess i could check out more options for this problem.

So 4/5 stars from me, for anyone interested in Bobbers with a smaller stature i guess a 5/5 would be definitely possible.

PS: the handle bar did break prior to me testing the bike while being maintained, so i guess the material should be improved, but Benda immediately replaced the faulty bar.
