CFMOTO 450MT Sweeps Three Categories at Red Bull Romaniacs 2026

The 2026 Red Bull Romaniacs, one of the world’s most demanding off-road events and often referred to the “European Dakar,” recently concluded in Sibiu, Romania. Facing one of the toughest off-road challenges on the global racing calendar, CFMOTO made a strong statement with its MT-series ADV models, securing overall victories in all three Adventure categories: Adventure Ultimate, Adventure Core, and Adventure Lite. The achievement marks a historic category sweep and a new milestone for the brand in the international ADV racing scene.

Founded in 2004, Red Bull Romaniacs is widely regarded as one of the most influential events in the Hard Enduro world. The race takes competitors through Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, featuring forest trails, rocky climbs, muddy sections, steep mountain passes, and highly technical terrain. It is considered a comprehensive test of rider skill, physical endurance, and motorcycle reliability. In 2026, the event introduced dedicated categories for adventure motorcycles, creating three difficulty levels to allow more ADV models to take on this extreme challenge.

At this year’s event, the CFMOTO 450MT became one of the most talked-about motorcycles and served as the core machine for the CFMOTO team. Powered by a 449cc parallel-twin engine, this mid-size ADV motorcycle impressed with its lightweight chassis, agile handling, and strong all-terrain capability. In extremely challenging off-road conditions, the 450MT delivered consistent performance, demonstrating competitive potential beyond what is traditionally expected from a mid-size adventure motorcycle.
Three Categories, Three Victories: CFMOTO Completes a Clean Sweep
In the most challenging Adventure Ultimate category, Spanish rider Mario Román Serrano piloted the CFMOTO 450MT with exceptional consistency, successfully overcoming every demanding section to claim the overall championship title.

Mario Román Serrano is one of the most experienced riders in international Hard Enduro competition. He has competed in numerous world-class off-road events, including Red Bull Romaniacs, and brings extensive experience in extreme terrain racing. In 2026, Mario officially partnered with CFMOTO, becoming not only an ambassador for the brand’s ADV lineup but also contributing to the testing and technical development of the MT-series models in extreme environments.

During Red Bull Romaniacs, Mario pushed the CFMOTO 450MT through the challenging terrain of the Carpathian Mountains, maintaining a strong pace across long-distance, high-intensity, and highly technical sections. His victory in the Adventure Ultimate category proved that the 450 MT is not only capable of everyday adventure touring and off-road exploration but also has the performance credentials to compete at the highest level of ADV events.

CFMOTO also dominated the other two categories. In both Adventure Core and Adventure Lite, riders aboard the 450MT delivered strong performances, taking advantage of the motorcycle’s stable handling and reliable performance to secure additional championship victories. With wins across all Adventure categories, CFMOTO became one of the biggest highlights of the 2026 Red Bull Romaniacs.

Unlocking the Full Potential of Mid-Size ADV Performance
As the key model behind this achievement, the CFMOTO 450MT was developed as a versatile mid-size ADV motorcycle designed for a wide range of adventure riding scenarios, combining everyday practicality with serious off-road capability. The motorcycle is powered by a 449.5cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine featuring a 270-degree crankshaft design. It produces 32.5kW of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 44N·m of peak torque at 6,250rpm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine delivers smooth and balance power across different riding conditions, making it suitable for both highway touring and technical off-road exploration.

To meet the demands of challenging terrain, the 450MT features extensive off-road-focused engineering. With a dry weight of only 175kg and a high-strength steel frame, the motorcycle achieves a balance between durability and agility in demanding environments. The chassis uses a split cradle frame design, combined with a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, providing excellent capability on uneven surfaces.

The motorcycle also offers 220mm of ground clearance and KYB adjustable suspension, with 200mm of travel at both the front and rear. This setup allows the 450MT to confidently handle obstacles such as rocks, steep climbs, and rough trails while maintaining strong impact absorption and control. In terms of electronic safety features, the 450MT is equipped with Bosch ABS and traction control systems. Both rear-wheel ABS and TCS can be independently switched off, allowing riders to maintain maximum control during technical off-road riding while still benefiting from enhanced safety during road use.

Importantly, the CFMOTO 450MT is not a purpose-built competition machine designed exclusively for racing. Instead, it is a multi-purpose ADV motorcycle built to handle long-distance touring, daily commuting, and off-road adventures. Its success at one of the world’s toughest ADV events challenges the traditional perception that production adventure motorcycles cannot compete at an extreme level, proving that mid-size multi-purpose ADV models can overcome demanding terrain and compete on the international stage.

Racing Success Strengthens CFMOTO’s Global Reputation
In recent years, CFMOTO has continued expanding its presence in international motorsport. From MotoGP competition to the Red Bull Romaniacs Hard Enduro Rally, the brand has used high-level global racing events to showcase its product capabilities while transferring racing experience and technical insights into the development of production motorcycles.

The three-category victory at Red Bull Romaniacs represents another major breakthrough for CFMOTO’s MT-series ADV lineup and further demonstrates the growing global competitiveness of Chinese motorcycle brands in the adventure segment.
