In December 2025, CFMoto officially completed the acquisition of a 51% stake in the German racing chassis and frame manufacturer Kalex Engineering, becoming the company’s controlling shareholder. According to several international motorcycle media outlets, the transaction was carried out through CFMOTO’s European subsidiary Helmsmen Europe. Following the deal, Kalex co-founders Alex Baumgärtel and Klaus Hirsekorn will retain the remaining 49% stake and continue to play key roles in the company’s operations, management, and core technology development.

Headquartered in Bavaria, Germany, Kalex is widely recognized as one of the most authoritative chassis manufacturers within the MotoGP racing ecosystem. Since the establishment of the Moto2 class in 2010, Kalex has been a core technical supplier in the category. In 2011, Kalex helped German rider Stefan Bradl secure the Moto2 World Championship, marking the beginning of the company’s dominance in the class. From 2013 onward, Kalex has won every Moto2 constructors’ title, and among the past 15 Moto2 world champions, 13 riders claimed their titles on machines equipped with Kalex chassis. Currently, 20 of the 28 riders on the Moto2 grid compete using Kalex frames, reflecting the company’s leading market share and strong technical reputation in the market.

Kalex stated that the equity transaction represents a long-term strategic partnership. Moving forward, both companies will focus on technology sharing and engineering collaboration, applying cutting-edge racing developments to future production motorcycles while expanding cooperation in engineering research and talent development. Kalex’s existing technical team and operational structure will remain unchanged, and the Moto2 chassis supply system will continue to operate as before.
