Chinese Motorcycle Exports Continued to Rise in October

In October, China’s motorcycle production and sales showed a trend of “month-on-month decline but year-on-year growth,” while foreign trade exports continued to maintain a high growth momentum. From the overall performance of January to October, the market for large-displacement recreational motorcycles continued to maintain high growth, and the strong growth in foreign trade exports also had a significant driving effect on the development of the entire industry.
Production and sales Situation
In October, the entire industry produced and sold 1.4473 million and 1.4524 million fuel motorcycles, respectively, down 13.15% and 13.64% month-on-month, but increased 8.2% and 10.3% year-on-year. Electric motorcycles produced and sold 306,900 and 301,200 units, respectively, down 10.14% and 6.58% month-on-month, but increased 16.22% and 16.23% year-on-year.

In October, total motorcycle production and sales reached 1.7543 million and 1.7536 million units respectively, representing a month-on-month decrease of 12.64% and 12.5%, but a year-on-year increase of 9.53% and 11.27%. Among them, two-wheeled vehicles saw production and sales of 1.4979 million and 1.5006 million units respectively, representing a month-on-month decrease of 14.86% and 14.27%, but a year-on-year increase of 10.03% and 12.39%. Production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement of 250cc and above, excluding 250cc) reached 63,700 and 60,900 units respectively, representing a month-on-month decrease of 23.34% and 29.68%, respectively. Production increased by 7.78% year-on-year, while sales decreased by 0.16% year-on-year. Production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles reached 256,400 and 253,000 units respectively, representing a month-on-month increase of 3.08% in production and a month-on-month decrease of 0.33% in sales, but year-on-year increases of 6.67% and 5.07% respectively.
From January to October, the entire industry produced and sold 15.3099 million and 15.3428 million fuel motorcycles, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 12.33% and 12.92%. Electric motorcycle production and sales reached 2.9557 million and 2.8926 million units, respectively, with production increasing by 3.13% year-on-year and sales decreasing by 1.36% year-on-year. In total, from January to October, the industry produced and sold 18.2656 million and 18.2354 million motorcycles, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 10.73% and 10.38%. Among these, two-wheeled motorcycles produced and sold 15.9616 million and 15.9259 million units, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 10.65% and 10.25%. Large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) produced and sold 832,700 and 822,300 units, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 29.85% and 29.68%. Production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles reached 2.304 million and 2.3095 million units respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 11.29% and 11.27%.

From January to October, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(2,216,300 units), Loncin(1,337,500 units), Zongshen(945,800 units), Tayo(899,600 units), Sundiro-Honda(833,600 units), Haojin(613,600 units), Yinxiang(5 74,800 units), Dayang(520,600 units), Wuyang-Honda(478,900 units) and Jiangmen Summit(447,400 units).
From January to October, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(808,000 units), Luyuan(437,700 units), Zongshen(383,200 units), Huaihai(290,300 units), CFMOTO(253,200 units), Jiangsu Sunra(217,300 units), Bus New Energy(160,900 units), Lovol(65,600 units), Loncin(58,600 units), and TAIGL(56,800 units).
Export Situation
In October, motorcycle exports reached 1.051 million units, a decrease of 14.32% month-on-month but an increase of 17.66% year-on-year; the export value was US$682 million, a decrease of 14.8% month-on-month but an increase of 23.07% year-on-year. Among them, two-wheeled motorcycle exports reached 1.006 million units, a decrease of 14.47% month-on-month but an increase of 19.8% year-on-year; three-wheeled motorcycle exports reached 45,000 units, a decrease of 10.75% month-on-month and a decrease of 15.86% year-on-year.

From January to October, motorcycle manufacturers’ total exports reached US$8.981 billion, a year-on-year increase of 26.1%. Exports of complete motorcycles totaled 11.0185 million units, a year-on-year increase of 22.28%, with an export value of US$7.278 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.2%. Motorcycle engine exports reached 1.0659 million units, a year-on-year increase of 14.19%, with an export value of US$212 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.53%. Exports of ATVs reached 394,200 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.35%, with an export value of US$1.145 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.41%. Exports of motorcycle parts reached US$346 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.78%.

From January to October, the top ten motorcycle exporters were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Haojin, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, Jiangmen Summit, and Bashan. These ten companies exported a total of 6.7634 million motorcycles, accounting for 61.38% of the total motorcycle exports.
