Chinese Motorcycle Production and Sales Continued to Grow in September 2025
In September, Chinese motorcycle production and sales increased both month-on-month and year-on-year, with foreign trade exports continuing their high growth trend. From the overall situation from January to September, the leisure and entertainment large-displacement motorcycle market continued to grow at a high rate, and the growth of foreign trade exports also had a significant impact on the industry as a whole.
Production and sales Situation
In September, the industry produced and sold 1.6666 million and 1.682 million fuel motorcycles, increased 4.78% and 7.58% month-on-month, and increased 14.1% and 11.74% year-on-year; the production and sales of electric motorcycles were 325,700 and 306,200, increased 12.32% and 7.32% month-on-month, and decreased 4.79% and 12.38% year-on-year.
In September, the total motorcycle production and sales reached 1.9923 million and 1.9882 million units, respectively, with month-on-month increases of 5.94% and 7.54%, and year-on-year increases of 10.51% and 7.19%. Of these, two-wheelers production and sales reached 1.7592 million and 1.7501 million units, with month-on-month increases of 5.99% and 7.45%, and year-on-year increases of 11.94% and 7.69%. Large-displacement leisure and recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) reached 83,100 and 86,600 units, respectively, with production decreasing by 1.42% and sales increasing by 2.49% month-on-month, and year-on-year increases of 10.8% and 13.05%. Three-wheeled motorcycle production and sales reached 233,100 and 238,000 units, with month-on-month increases of 5.61% and 8.2%, and year-on-year increases of 0.83% and 3.72%.
From January to September, the industry produced and sold 13.8628 million and 13.8907 million fuel-powered motorcycles, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 12.78% and 13.2%. Electric motorcycles production and sales totaled 2.5034 million and 2.4456 million, respectively, decreased 3.78% and 8.51% year-on-year. From January to September, the total motorcycle production and sales reached 16.3661 million and 16.3363 million, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 9.89% and 9.31%. Of these, two-wheeled motorcycle production and sales reached 14.4637 million and 14.4252 million, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 10.72% and 10.03%. Large-displacement leisure and recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) produced and sold 769,000 and 761,400 units, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 32.09% and 32.88%. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 1.9024 million and 1.9111 million units, respectively, increased 3.96% and 4.17% year-on-year.
From January to September, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(1,981,500 units), Loncin(1,228,600 units), Zongshen(854,700 units), Tayo(814,600 units), Sundiro-Honda(760,800 units), Haojin(536,300 units), Yinxiang(5 18,900 units), Dayang(473,600 units), Wuyang-Honda(429,400 units) and Jiangmen Summit(410,000 units).
From January to September, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(757,300 units), Luyuan(376,000 units), Zongshen(339,500 units), CFMOTO(225,200 units), Jiangsu Sunra(194,900 units), Bus New Energy(138,900 units), Huaihai(117,000 units), Lovol(59,700 units), Loncin(53,600 units), and TAIGL(44,700 units).
Export Situation
In September, 1.2267 million motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 9.14% and a year-on-year increase of 20.16%. The export value was US$800 million, a month-on-month increase of 5.39% and a year-on-year increase of 27.45%. Among them, 1.1763 million two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 9.55% and a year-on-year increase of 20.71%, while 50,400 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 0.39% and a year-on-year increase of 8.46%.
From January to September, motorcycle manufacturers exported a total of US$8.136 billion worth of products, a year-on-year increase of 26.42%. Motorcycle exports totaled 9.9674 million units, a year-on-year increase of 22.82%, with a value of US$6.596 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.78%. Motorcycle engine exports totaled 974,100 units, a year-on-year increase of 15.36%, with a value of US$194 million, a year-on-year increase of 7.21%. ATV exports totaled 353,400 units, a year-on-year decrease of 0.92%, with a value of US$1.011 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.75%. Motorcycle parts & accessories exports totaled US$335 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.96%.
From January to September, the top ten motorcycle exporters were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Zongshen, Haojin, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, Jiangmen Summit, and Bashan. These ten companies exported a total of 6.1155 million motorcycles, accounting for 61.36% of the total motorcycle exports.
