Chinese Motorcycle Exports Continued to Grow in July
In July, my Chinese motorcycle production and sales remained essentially flat month-over-month, but saw year-over-year growth. Exports declined slightly from the previous month, but continued to grow year-over-year. From January to July, the market for large-displacement motorcycles for leisure and recreation continued to grow, with exports maintaining significant growth and the domestic market gradually stabilizing and developing positively.
Production and sales Situation
In July, the industry produced and sold 1.5847 million gasoline-powered motorcycles and 1.5983 million gasoline-powered motorcycles, respectively, representing month-over-month decreases of 2.14% and 1.45%, and year-over-year increases of 5.32% and 7.51%. Electric motorcycle production and sales reached 286,300 and 279,600 units, respectively, with month-over-month increases of 13.68% and 16.35%, but year-over-year decreases of 11.92% and 19.04%.
In July, 1.8710 million and 1.8779 million motorcycles were produced and sold, respectively, with production decreasing by 0.01% and sales increasing by 0.85%, and year-over-year increases of 2.25% and 2.51%. Of these, 1.6587 million and 1.6674 million two-wheeled vehicles were produced and sold, respectively, with production decreasing by 0.73% and sales increasing by 0.54%, and year-over-year increases of 2.62% and 3.08%. Production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (250cc and above, excluding 250cc) totaled 91,100 and 88,300 units, down 13.37% and 14.20% month-over-month, but up 9.43% and 21.66% year-over-year. Production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles totaled 212,300 and 210,500 units, up 5.96% and 3.34% month-over-month, but down 0.53% and 1.83% year-over-year.
From January to July, the industry produced and sold 10.6056 million and 10.6452 million gasoline-powered motorcycles, respectively, representing year-on-year increases of 12.81% and 13.60%. Electric motorcycle production and sales totaled 1.8876 million and 1.8541 million, respectively, down 1.70% and 6.27% year-on-year. From January to July, production and sales totaled 12.4932 million and 12.4993 million motorcycles, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 10.35% and 10.14%. Of these, production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles totaled 11.0446 million and 11.0462 million, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 11.09% and 10.88%. Production and sales of large-displacement leisure and recreational motorcycles (250cc and above, excluding 250cc) totaled 601,600 and 590,300, respectively, with year-on-year increases of 37.98% and 37.89%. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 1.4486 million and 1.4531 million units, respectively, up 5.05% and 4.84% year-on-year.
From January to July, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(1,459,400 units), Loncin(985,300 units), Zongshen(648,100 units), Tayo(604,200 units), Sundiro-Honda(564,300 units), Yinxiang(406,500 units), Haojin(391,900 units), Dayang(369,700 units), Jiangmen Summit(339,000 units), and Wuyang-Honda(329,000 units).
From January to July, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(614,000 units), Luyuan(265,700 units), Zongshen(261,300 units), CFMOTO(160,900 units), Jiangsu Sunra(140,800 units), Huaihai(92,800 units), Bus New Energy(90,700 units), Lovol(46,300 units), Loncin(44,000 units), and TAIGL(34,000 units).
Export Situation
In July, 1.1471 million motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 3.14% month-on-month and an increase of 13.08% year-on-year. The export value was US$767 million, a decrease of 5.71% month-on-month and an increase of 26.38% year-on-year. Among them, 1.0868 million two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 3.07% month-on-month and an increase of 11.73% year-on-year; 60,300 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 4.53% month-on-month and an increase of 44.78% year-on-year.
From January to July, motorcycle manufacturers exported a total of US$6.266 billion worth of products, a year-on-year increase of 27.20%. Complete vehicle exports totaled 7.6153 million units, a year-on-year increase of 23.52%, with a value of US$5.043 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.74%. Motorcycle engine exports totaled 759,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 15.59%, with a value of US$153 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.97%. ATV exports totaled 275,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 1.41%, with a value of US$793 million, a year-on-year increase of 22.06%. Motorcycle parts exports totaled US$277 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.18%.
From January to July, the top ten motorcycle exporters were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Haojin, Jiangmen Summit, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, and Bashan. These ten companies exported a total of 4.6726 million motorcycles, accounting for 61.36% of the total motorcycle exports.
