Motorcycle Production & Sales Risen Notably in April, Exports Grew Steadily, Industry Maintained Sound Momentum

In April, the motorcycle industry achieved notable month-on-month and year-on-year growth in production and sales, while overseas exports sustained robust growth. From the January-April cumulative perspective, foreign trade exports became a strong driving force, driving steady growth in production and sales, and the overall industry continued to develop in a positive direction.
Production and Sales Performance
In April, the industry produced 1.8836 million fuel motorcycles and sold 1.8879 million units, up 8.74% and 13.99% month-on-month, and 7.73% and 10.06% year-on-year. According to incomplete statistics from industry associations, the production and sales volume of electric motorcycles reached 395,300 units and 383,700 units respectively, rising 6.51% and 1.51% month-on-month, and surging 34.1% and 35.24% year-on-year. The total motorcycle production and sales volume in April hit 2.2789 million units and 2.2716 million units, growing 8.35% and 11.67% month-on-month, and 11.53% and 13.63% year-on-year. Chinese domestic motorcycle sales stood at 899,000 units, up 5.66% month-on-month and 0.48% year-on-year; domestic sales of fuel motorcycles reached 522,000 units, increasing 8.94% month-on-month and 1.1% year-on-year.

Among all categories, two-wheeled motorcycles recorded production and sales of 2.0033 million units and 1.9968 million units, up 9.35% and 12.75% month-on-month, and 12% and 14.31% year-on-year. Motorcycles with displacement above 250cc posted production and sales of 104,400 units and 103,600 units, rising 33% and 33.33% month-on-month, and 7.22% and 11.4% year-on-year. Three-wheeled motorcycles achieved production and sales of 275,600 units and 274,800 units, growing 1.57% and 4.44% month-on-month, and 8.23% and 8.93% year-on-year.
From January to April, the industry produced 6.4077 million fuel motorcycles and sold 6.4914 million units, a year-on-year increase of 10.26% and 11.69%. The output and sales of electric motorcycles were 1.1952 million units and 1.1757 million units, up 4.49% and 4.66% year-on-year. The total motorcycle production and sales volume in the first four months reached 7.6029 million units and 7.6665 million units, rising 9.31% and 10.55% year-on-year. Domestic sales of fuel motorcycles were 1.6755 million units, down 1.15% year-on-year with the decline narrowing. Specifically, two-wheeled motorcycles achieved output and sales of 6.7034 million units and 6.7711 million units, up 10.23% and 11.74% year-on-year. Production and sales of motorcycles above 250cc were 287,600 units and 291,000 units, down 5.64% and 2.28% year-on-year. Three-wheeled motorcycles registered output and sales of 899,400 units and 895,300 units, rising 2.94% and 2.28% year-on-year.

In the first four months, the top 10 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(993,100 units), Loncin(463,600 units), Tayo(443,200 units), Yinxiang(437,700 units), Zongshen(422,200 units), Sundiro-Honda(330,900 units), Haojin(255,600 units), Dayang(221,100 units), Wuyang- Honda(198,900 units) and Jiangmen Summit(167,600 units). The combined sales volume of the ten enterprises totaled 3.9337 million units, accounting for 60.59% of the total motorcycle domestic sales.
Export Performance
China exported 1.3725 million motorcycles in April, up 15.99% month-on-month and 14.29% year-on-year, with export value reaching 918 million US dollars, rising 15.92% month-on-month and 18.23% year-on-year. Among them, two-wheeled motorcycle exports stood at 1.306 million units, growing 16.03% month-on-month and 14.34% year-on-year; three-wheeled motorcycle exports were 66,500 units, up 15.36% month-on-month and 13.29% year-on-year.

From January to April, the total export value of motorcycle products reached 4.061 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 21.77%. Motorcycle exports amounted to 4.8463 million units, up 17.39% year-on-year, valued at 3.243 billion US dollars, rising 20.57% year-on-year. Motorcycle engine exports were 348,900 units, down 21.82% year-on-year with an export value of 73 million US dollars, a year-on-year drop of 15.84%. ATV exports reached 179,800 units, surging 31.78% year-on-year, with export value hitting 612 million US dollars, up 51.18% year-on-year. The export value of motorcycle spare parts was 133 million US dollars, down 13.49% year-on-year.

The top 10 enterprises in terms of motorcycle export value in January-April were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Yinxiang, Zongshen, Sundiro-Honda, CFMOTO, Haojin, QJMOTOR, and SYM. The total export value of these ten enterprises reached 2.099 billion US dollars, accounting for 64.72% of the overall motorcycle export value.
