In June, China’s motorcycle industry achieved year-on-year and month-on-month growth in both production and sales,while exports continued to maintain strong momentum. According to cumulative data for the first half of the year, domestic sales have continued to improve since May, while exports remain the key engine driving industry growth. The overall production and sales scale has steadily expanded, the transition toward higher-end products has accelerated, and industry has maintained stable progress with improving development quality.

Production and Sales Performance

In June, the fuel-powered motorcycle sector recorded production and sales of 1.8436 million units and 1.8445 million units, respectively. Production decreased 2.4% month-on-month, while sales increased 0.43% month-on month, representing year-on-year growth of 13.84% and 13.73%. According to incomplete statistics from the industry association, electric motorcycles recorded production and sales of 420,300 units and 405,900 units, respectively, with month-on-month increases of 27.61% and 28.82%, and year-on-year growth of 54.33% and 55.63%.

In June, total motorcycle production and sales reached 2.2638 million units and 2.2504 million units, respectively, increasing 2.05% and 4.59% month-on-month, and rising 19.67% and 19.54% year-on-year. Domestic motorcycle sales reached 877,800 units, up 9.63% month-on-month and 25.99% year-on-year. Domestic sales of fuel-powered motorcycles totaled 480,800 units, down 2.55% month-on-month but up 9.43% year-on-year.

Among them, two-wheel motorcycle production and sales reached 2.0332 million units and 2.0166 million units, respectively, increasing 2.53% and 5.22% month-on-month, and rising 21.69% and 21.6% year-on-year. Motorcycles with engine displacement above 250cc recorded production and sales of 110,900 units and 113,400 units, respectively, with increases of 6.02% and 11.18% month-on-month, and 5.5% and 10.1% year-on-year growth. Three-wheel motorcycle production and sales stood at 230,600 units and 233,800 units, respectively, down 1.99% and 0.53% month-on-month, but up 4.4% and 4.3% year-on-year.

From January to June, the entire industry produced 10.1402 million fuel-powered motorcycles and sold 10.1724 million units, representing year-on-year growth of 12.41% and 12.44%. Electric motorcycle production and sales reached 1.9448 million units and 1.8961 million units, increasing 14.12% and 13.04% year-on-year. During the first half of the year, total motorcycle production and sales reached 12.085 million units and 12.0685 million units, with year-on-year growth of 12.68% and 12.53%. Domestic sales of fuel-powered motorcycles reached 2.6496 million units, up 2.09% year-on-year, indicating a gradual recovery in the domestic market. Among them, two-wheel motorcycle production and sales reached 10.7197 million units and 10.7043 million units, increasing 14.21% and 14.13% year-on-year. Motorcycles above 250cc recorded production and sales of 503,100 units and 506,400 units, with production down 1.5% year-on-year and sales up 0.88%. Three-wheel motorcycle production and sales reached 1.3656 million units and 1.3643 million units, increasing 1.95% and 1.37% year-on-year.

From January to June, the top ten fuel-powered motorcycle manufacturers (groups) by sales volume were Dachangjiang(1,536,800 units), Loncin(730,800 units), Tayo(725,600 units), Zongshen(660,200 units), Yinxiang(602,800 units), Sundiro-Honda(534,800 units), Haojin(426,800 units), Dayang(343,900 units), Wuyang-Honda(339,000 units), and Jiangmen Summit(272,700 units). Together, these ten companies sold 6.1733 million motorcycles, accounting for 60.69% of total fuel-powered motorcycle sales.

Export Performance

In June, motorcycle exports reached 1.3726 million units, increasing 1.6% month-on-month and 15.75% year-on-year. Export value totaled USD 1.001 billion, up 7.57% month-on-month and 23.06% year-on-year. Among them, two-wheel motorcycle exports reached 1.3158 million units, increasing 1.82% month-on-month and 17.19% year-on-year. Three-wheel motorcycle exports totaled 56,800 units, down 3.23% month-on-month and 9.92% year-on-year.

From January to June, the total export value of motorcycle manufacturers’ products reached USD 6.575 billion, representing year-on-year growth of 23.99%. Complete motorcycle exports totaled 7.5699 million units, up 17% year-on-year, with export value reaching USD 5.175 billion, an increase of 21.03%. Motorcycle engine exports totaled 536,400 units, down 16.46% year-on-year, with export value of USD 110 million, down 14.56%. ATV exports reached 305,100 units, increasing 34.25% year-on-year, with export value reaching USD 1.095 billion, up 65.67%. Motorcycle parts exports totaled USD 196 million, down 17.65% year-on-year.

From January to June, the top 10 companies ranked by motorcycle export value were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Zongshen, CFMOTO, Haojin, QJMOTOR, and SYM. These 10 companies generated a combined motorcycle export value of USD 3.342 billion, accounting for 64.6% of total motorcycle export value.

In terms of export volume, the top 10 companies were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Yinxiang, Haojin, Zongshen, Sundiro-Honda, Jiangmen Summit, LIFAN, and Tianma. These companies exported a combined 4.6656 million motorcycles, accounting for 61.63% of total motorcycle exports.
