QJMOTOR, a new high-end brand under Qianjiang, launched five series products last year. QJ500GS-5F is one of them. Let’s focus on the off-road version.

Equipment

The full color LCD instrument can automatically adjust the screen brightness according to the ambient condition. The surface of the screen has been frosted to improve recognition of information in the blazing sunshine.

It is powered by a 500cc in-line twin-cylinder water-cooled engine, with a maximum power of 36kW/8,500rpm and a maximum torque of 47N·m/5,500rpm. Power output is relatively linear, giving consideration to both high-speed and low-speed torque output, which can meet most of the use needs.

It came with Bosch ABS as standard. The sliding clutch feels light.

In actual riding, when the riding speed was very fast, the rear wheel did not skid or jump during high-speed gear reduction. The overall fuel consumption is 4.6L/100km for riding through streets, highways and unsealed roads. The 19.5-liter fuel tank can easily support a cruising distance of 400-500km.

The wide and chunky saddle and small waist cushion greatly increase the comfort of long-distance riding.

The off-road QJ500GS-5F is equipped with front 19-inch and rear 17-inch vacuum spoke rims.

The footrest and brake pedal are anti-skid, and for comfort the rubber pad of the front footrest can be removed.

The chassis guard plate, exhaust pipe guard plate, water tank guard plate and rear mud guard are all original standard parts.

The front 140mm inverted and rear 60mm central shock absorbers are both adjustable shock absorbers from KYB.

The front and rear brakes are all Brembo brakes: front 320mm dual-disc, four-piston radial calipers, with Brembo direct-push pump; rear 260mm single disc single piston caliper, very effective.

Handling

The handling of QJ500GS-5F is much better than its predecessors thanks partially to the KYB fully adjustable front and rear shock absorbers that provide reliable vibration filtration and support effect.

The Brembo brakes feel particularly good. The Metzeler tires suit both sealed and unsealed road. However, riding across slush during the test turned out to be a little bit demanding.

Conclusion

QJMOTOR is undoubtedly one of the brands that understand domestic consumers. With charming sound, aggressive appearance, abundant power and quality equipment, QJ500GS-5F constantly captivate many riders.

  1. Weight: 243kg for the off-road version, although a little bit heavy, the handling will give you enough surprise and confidence.
  2. Quality and after-sales service: since 2016 when Geely became Qianjiang’s largest shareholder, Qianjiang’s have made continuous progress product quality. Besides, its after-sale stores have been established all over the country.
  3. Vibration: this is an unavoidable topic. Slight vibration occurs at 6,000rpm, which becomes larger after 7500rpm — mainly transmitting to the cushion, with little vibration at the handlebars and pedals. Nevertheless, the speed already reaches 120km/h in 6th gear at 6,000rpm, which is not a frequent riding status, so there is no need to worry much about vibration. (Source: www.newmotor.com.cn)
