Inside CIMAMotor 2026: How Intensifying Competition Is Reshaping China’s Motorcycle Industry

The 2026 China International Motorcycle Trade Exhibition (CIMAMotor 2026) has come to a close after reaching a record scale. The exhibition covered more than 190,000 square meters, bringing together over 1,000 exhibitors and more than 100 motorcycle and electric two-wheeler brands from around the world. More than 3,000 static and dynamic vehicles were on display, while over 300 overseas buyers attended the event for business discussions and sourcing opportunities. While these new records are certainly noteworthy, the more important takeaway from this year’s CIMAMotor lies in the deeper structural changes they reveal across China’s motorcycle industry.

Signal 1: Chinese Brands Take the Lead as International Brands Strategically Scale Back
The changing brand landscape was already evident when the exhibition floor plan was first released. Chinese brands occupied the core exhibition spaces across the show, making them the most prominent presence at this year’s CIMAMotor, while international brands showed a clear strategic pullback in their exhibition presence. Apart from Honda, which maintained a relatively independent exhibition presence, most other leading international brands did not stage standalone displays. It is worth noting that two of China’s leading motorcycle manufacturers, CFMOTO and QJMOTOR, continued their recent strategy of reserving major new-model premieres for EICMA in Milan in November. MEGA CHINAMOTOR will also be on site in Milan to provide in-depth coverage. Despite this, ZXMOTO’s booth attracted significant attention, while VOGE, TEYIN and ARIIC were also among the Chinese motorcycle brands unveiling a number of highly competitive new models.

Signal 2: Electrification Gains Real-World Traction, Broadening the Exhibition Lineup
Compared with previous CIMAMotor, the presence of electric two-wheelers was significantly stronger at this year’s exhibition, signaling that electrification is moving beyond the conceptual and introductory stage and becoming increasingly embedded in the industry. Electric two-wheeler brands including TAILG, 79BIKE and BLACK KNIGHT made high-profile appearances, with products spanning a wide range of applications, from urban commuting and smart connectivity to off-road riding and commercial delivery.
The exhibits showcased advances in high-performance three-electric powertrains, intelligent connectivity architectures and lightweight materials, highlighting the technological capabilities of China’s electric two-wheeler industry and its growing competitiveness across the global value chain.
Signal 3: The Full Supply-Chain Ecosystem Comes into View, Extending Its Global Reach
If CIMAMotor were viewed simply as a showcase for motorcycles and electric two-wheelers, it would no longer capture the full picture of the event. Across the exhibition halls, companies covering engines, suspension, braking systems, wheels, tires, lighting, motors, batteries, controllers, helmets and protective gear, riding apparel, lubricants and tooling were all represented, covering virtually every link in the motorcycle supply chain. This comprehensive presence reflects not only the depth and maturity of China’s motorcycle manufacturing ecosystem and its strong industrial-cluster advantages, but also the industry’s increasingly mature ability to export both manufacturing capabilities and technology to global markets. The supply chain ecosystem built around Chinese manufacturing extends far beyond what many overseas industry professionals have traditionally perceived.
Signal 4: Rising International Sourcing Demand Strengthens the Exhibition’s Role as an International B2B Platform
The growing presence of international industry professionals across the exhibition halls and outdoor activity areas was another major highlight of this year’s event. Through conversations with international buyers at the show, we learned that, amid rising global raw-material prices and mounting manufacturing cost pressures, buyers from Europe, Southeast Asia and Latin America are actively seeking direct sourcing channels with Chinese component suppliers.

By bypassing multiple layers of intermediaries, these buyers aim to reduce procurement and assembly costs and improve margins in their respective markets. The trend indicates that China’s two-wheeler parts & accessories industry has developed substantial capabilities to serve international markets at scale. At the same time, it highlights the significant information gap that still exists between overseas buyers and high-quality Chinese suppliers.

As a professional industry media platform with two decades of experience covering China’s motorcycle export industry, we have long been committed to bridging this cross-border information gap. To this end, we officially launched the CHINA 2W-PARTS YEARBOOK – Spring Edition earlier this year. The Autumn Edition will be distributed at the 2026 Canton Fair, EICMA, and next year’s F2R. International and Chinese buyers are welcome to collect a copy at our booth by presenting their business cards and gain access to high-quality Chinese supply-chain resources.
Signal 5: Growing Scale Elevates the Exhibition to a New Level
This year’s CIMAMotor occupied all eight indoor halls, N1 through N8, at the Chongqing International Expo Center, complemented by more than 80,000 square meters of outdoor areas dedicated to dynamic experiences and activities. With total exhibition space reaching another record high, CIMAMotor has further strengthened its position as one of the most important and influential motorcycle industry events in China and across Asia.

Conclusion: A New Industry Landscape Takes Shape
Taken together, these developments point to a fundamental shift in the position of China’s motorcycle industry. In an era defined by persistent global economic volatility, rising uncertainty and mounting pressure from supply-chain restructuring, China’s motorcycle industry is leveraging its increasingly strong in-house R&D capabilities, systematic approach to technological innovation, highly intelligent manufacturing systems and extensive, fully integrated supply chain to make a structural leap forward in the global motorcycle industry. Whether driven by pragmatic business considerations or a passion for motorcycle culture, an increasing number of industry professionals and motorcycle enthusiasts from around the world are making their way to Chongqing. In this city defined by speed and passion, they are looking for more than products and orders. They are also looking for an industrial anchor point that can support their businesses and ambitions as the global industry undergoes profound change.

MEGA CHINAMOTOR will continue to track the development of China’s motorcycle export industry, providing global industry professionals with in-depth data and professional insights.
