JOYMAX F REVIEW
In April 2019, SYM JOYMAX Z 300, a large scooter affectionately called “Jiu Mei” by users, came out of the blue. JOYMAX Z 300 with balanced performance won the praise of countless users, with a good market reputation. In 2021, SYM upgraded “Jiu Mei” to have better appearance and configuration. This year SYM launched its spin-off, JOYMAX F, which is called “Jiu Mei Fu” because of its relationship with “Jiu Mei”. JOYMAX F demonstrate a pragmatic principle.
JOYMAX F has a different appearance style from JOYMAX Z. The latter is relatively low-key without an aggressive sports appearance. The headlamp is changed to a combination of three lights, and the turn signal is still embedded in the shell, but the location is closer to the headlamp. Such light layout makes the body more compact, and is more in line with the positioning of an urban scooter. The side continues the characteristic lines, reducing the visual weight of the scooter.
What is the purpose of leveling the front pedal? It’s just practical. So there are a lot of practical considerations in JOYMAX F. JOYMAX F has a large front pedal space with a high utilization rate, which can hold a backpack, a bag of rice, water, oil, etc. JOYMAX F still maintains the front refueling port to ensure refueling convenience, while the 11.5L tank volume does not shrink too much. JOYMAX F also comes with a KEYLESS startup system and a color LCD meter instead of the JOYMAX Z’s pointer plus LCD model.
With a flat pedal, JOYMAX F’s under-seat space was slightly reduced, but still able to hold a full-face and a half-face helmet. The right side of the central control lock is still designed with a storage box, and the switch has been upgraded. The storage box is equipped with QC3.0 USB interface to facilitate power supply for electronic devices. In addition, JOYMAX F’s rear handrail integrates a shelf to benefit users who want to install a tail box.
The riding comfort with JOYMAX F is also guaranteed. The long and wide seat is very friendly to riders. The front cushion is narrowed to enable riders touch the ground. Thick cushion sponge with soft rear shock absorber bring you a very comfortable ride in the back seat. The retention of the cruising pegs allows the rider to change leg position and relieve fatigue. The front large two-section windscreen dismounted for adjustment.
JOYMAX F uses vertical front shock absorption with protective rubber sleeve, and preload adjustable double rear shock absorption. The front and rear shock absorbers feel soft. The rear shock absorption adopts double-distance spring, which can still provide good support when the load increases, delivering a good damping effect..
In terms of power, Joymax F is equipped with a 278cc single-cylinder water-cooled four-valve engine and Siemens EFI. The maximum power is 19kW (8000r/min), and the maximum torque is 26N·m (6000r/min). The engine uses SYM’s new Clean Power technology to make it cleaner and more fuel-efficient, while enabling the power output curve more delicate and linear. The whole acceleration process is also very linear. The engine’s low-torque performance is excellent, with smooth and easy-to-control power output.
Despite its practicality and comfort, Joymax F improved in safety, namely the addition of TCS. When the rear wheel skidding on low friction road surface, it controls power output to restore grip. The braking system consists of front opposite four-piston radial calipers with 260mm floating disc, rear one-way double-piston calipers with 240mm disc, while the front and rear wheels also have standard equipment of ABS, further improving braking safety. It is worth mentioning that Joymax F has a bigger tire size than “Jiu Mei”: front 120/70-15, rear 140/70-14, which, to a certain extent, increases the pass-through ability.
SYM JOYMAX F offers good riding comfort and excellent power performance, and still a very competitive price. More importantly, it has a practical body structure and the new TCS configuration. All those bring it stronger competitiveness.
