Ever since the announcement of the KOVE 450RR pricing in May at Motor China KOVE, the attention this motorcycle has garnered in the Chinese market has soared exponentially. As the first domestically-produced sport bike to be equipped with a self-developed four-cylinder engine, it has stolen the hearts of countless bike enthusiasts in China with its exceptional cost-performance ratio, priced at a standard 35,800 yuan and 39,800 yuan for the performance model. The allure of experiencing the charm of a four-cylinder for less than 40,000 yuan, places the KOVE 450RR in a dominant position amongst domestic competitors of the same class.

Sporty and minimalist in its overall design, the 450RR displays clean, flowing lines along its body, with a mech-like aesthetic radiating a distinct personality. By utilizing all-aluminum wheels and aluminum alloy components, it not only keeps the weight down to a mere 165kg but also enhances the overall texture. With a factory seat height of 795mm and an adjustable range of 780-795mm, the bike is made increasingly rider-friendly. Moreover, despite some jesting from enthusiasts who liken the front face to that of a “flattened DUCATI” after KOVE changed its original “catfish” design, there are barely any points of criticism in terms of appearance.

In terms of power, the 450RR is powered by a 443cc 16-valve inline four-cylinder engine, which generates a maximum power of 52kW at 13,500rpm and a maximum torque of 39N.m at 10,500rpm, with a compression ratio of 12.9:1. Weighing in at only 42kg, the engine is standard-equipped with a slipper clutch. These specifications coupled with a price tag under 40,000 yuan cement KOVE’s reigning position amongst domestic motorcycles of the same class.

What deserves special mention is that the 450RR employs a ram-air intake design that can provide an additional 3 horsepower when the speed exceeds 150km/h. The principle of ram-air intake involves utilizing wind pressure generated during high-speed travel to compress the air, increase air density, and enhance airflow inertia, thereby improving engine intake efficiency and oxygen content at high speeds and thus enhancing engine power. The advantages of this method lie in the ability to enhance engine power without relying on external supercharging devices. This not only maximizes the lightness of the product but also effectively improves the power performance. This is the key to why KOVE can reach a top speed of 220km/h at a weight of 165kg.
