The “Yibao Cup” Rural Motorcycle Sports and Culture Carnival Luoping recently concluded successfully. Due to its open-door, no-speed-limited nature, the event, nicknamed the “Luoping TT”(Chinese Manx TT) by riders, has garnered significant online attention.

The event, held in Luoping, Yunnan province from July 25th to 26th, attracted 612 motorcycle enthusiasts from 18 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities across China. The 116-kilometer course covered a variety of challenging terrain. The competition was divided into two categories: those over 500cc and those under 500cc. The competition was conducted in a team time trial format, with each team consisting of four participants. The slowest rider’s time was used as the final team score. Prizes were awarded to the top three finishers in the over 500cc category, and to the top six finishers in the under 500cc category.

Unlike traditional races, the track for this event is not a professional venue but rather rural roads in Luoping. The entire course has not been extensively modified, with some sections retaining their natural dirt and gravel surfaces. The terrain includes mountain roads, sharp turns, and continuous downhill sections, making it highly challenging and dangerous. On the day of the race, it happened to be raining, and the wet and slippery road surface further increased the uncertainty of the event. To ensure safety, local traffic police, public security, and fire departments were on standby throughout the event, and the track was subject to full closure management. Ultimately, the fastest rider secured the championship with a time of 1 hour, 27 minutes, and 55 seconds.

It is reported that the Luoping station is not the only stop in this series of events, with subsequent races scheduled to take place in Weixin, Fengqing, and other locations. The successful hosting of the “Luoping TT” has provided Chinese motorcycle enthusiasts with a new platform for exchange and explored new pathways for the integration of rural tourism and cultural development. However, it still faces challenges in areas such as the refinement of competition rules and proper public opinion guidance, making its future development a topic of great interest.
