Static Review-NIU’s Flagship E-scooter MQi2
MQi2 is an electric scooter NIU developed in accordance with the new national standard, which will be launched soon. The MQi2 is provided with classic design language and a variety of first-class technology to become a flagship model under the new national standard.
MQi2 continues the “MQi” series’ family appearance design language, presenting a modern concise, classic and durable look.
The face is neat and agile, with round elements adding a retro feeling.
The classic “angel eye” headlight adopts LED lamp ring and lens. The light intensity reaches 38,000CD.
The full LCD instrument, with soft lighting, shows rich information.
The design of handlebar buttons is delicate. The left handlebar is added with two practical buttons for cruise control and emergency double flash. In addition to the common functions on the right handlebar, a power mode selection button has been added. There are three modes available for this scooter: Sport, Dynamic and E-save, which can be switched by the handlebar button.
The lower two sides of the handlebar lie the LED turn signals, with high brightness to provide good warning.
The longitudinal space of the pedal is abundant, but the transverse space is relatively narrow.
It is designed with USB charging port, luggage hook and other user-friendly configuration for daily cycling.
It is worth mentioning that MQi2 has two keys: a mechanical key and a remote-control key. The mechanical key is to open the saddle (under which lie the battery) and lock the head, while the remote-control key is to start and shut down the scooter.
LED width indicator lights are provided on both sides.
To meet the requirements of the new national standard, MQi2 is designed with a single saddle, with wide and thick cushion comfortable for riding. Both sides of the saddle are provided with handrails for easy moving the scooter.
LED lights at the back provide great lighting effect.
NIU’s fourth generation NIU Energy™ power lithium battery is placed under the saddle. NIU is the first brand in the industry to propose the “lithium electric revolution”. The brand has been deeply involved in the lithium electric field for five years and has accumulated rich experience. MQi2’s battery is 48V20Ah, and it delivers a cruising range of over 65km. In addition, the 7.69kg lithium battery can be taken out for charging.
The front and rear 12-inch wheel hubs bring a minimum ground clearance of 147mm, so it has good passability.
The robust vertical shock absorber provides better damping effect. The reflective stickers on both sides of the front shock absorber provide certain warning effect during actual riding.
The combination of front dual piston disc brake and rear drum brake is adequate for MQi2 with a designed maximum speed of less than 25km/h.
The large rear fender can effectively prevent mud and water. The one-piece aluminum rocker arm, hidden rear central shock absorber, and aluminum side support are all high-profile configuration.
NIU’s highly efficient brushless motor enables energy efficiency conversion of higher than 88%. With NIU’s AI strengths, it can automatically collect vehicle data, analyze and optimize the power output curve, making the power output more suitable for the rider.
In consideration of the new national standard, MQi2 is equipped with a pedal device to enable pedal cycling. The pedal drive chain has two gears, which prevents the chain from running loose, without any loss of transmission efficiency.
Conclusion: the appearance design and configuration of MQi2, especially the technology configuration, is very appealing. MQi2 is worthy of its positioning to be a flagship model under the new national standard.
As an important part of the two-wheeler industry, the development of electric two-wheelers is unlimited.
