The Static Evaluation of Dayang VRS125
Dayang released three small-displacement scooters at Dayang’s “New Scooter Matrix Launch Conference 2” a few months ago. It can be inferred that people are need of the scooters with the high-end configuration and strong power according to the hot booking situation. Dayang VRS125 is probably the best 125CC scooter in China, with the strongest power and the best configuration.
In order to meet the different needs of riders, three versions of Dayang VRS125 have been launched this time, namely, the standard version 10,980 yuan, the ABS version 12,980 yuan, and the TCS version 14,980 yuan. What we got was the ABS version, which has the dual-channel ABS that the standard version doesn’t have, but it has no TCS traction control system that the TCS version has. There is almost no difference in the basic configurations of three versions.
The sporty look
Although Dayang VRS125 is officially positioned as a commuter scooter, Dayang has made efforts to design the appearance of this model. The VRS125 in sporty style has sharp lines and the unique four-lens headlights, interpreting Dayang’s understanding of sports scooters.
Dayang VRS125 is a high-tech scooter in that it is equipped with the vital Vi-Core3.0 power platform. Three versions of VRS125 all have three high-tech configurations of Vi-Core3.0 including the hybrid, silent start and idle start-stop.
Compared with Vi-Core2.0, the hybrid boosting time of the latest Vi-Core3.0 power platform has been increased from 6s to 10s. The hybrid system can intervene at 2000 rpm to provide an additional 0.6 horsepower for the vehicle, making a better acceleration performance.
The VRS125 has the unique advantage because it is a 125CC scooter which is not only equipped with the four-valve engines but also is water-cooling. In addition,
this engine can have the maximum power of 11Kw/8500 rpm and the maximum torque12.5N.m/6500 rpm, which surpass other 125CC scooters and even partial 150CC scooters.
Dayang’s hybrid system is to provide stronger power during the acceleration phase of the vehicle, and it actually indirectly reduces some fuel consumption. What’s more, the VRS125 has the 10L super-large fuel tank while the fuel tanks of same-level models are mostly around 7L, which makes the actual endurance performance of VRS125 outstanding and attractive.
The curb weight of VRS125 is 138kg, which is heavier than the same-class models
(Yamaha Qiaoge i is 90kg, and Suzuki UY125 is 112kg). The heavier curb weight has two edges. On the one hand, it can increase the stability of the vehicle at medium and high speeds; on the other hand, there will be some loss in terms of weight and power advantage.
The VRS125 adopts the LED, and its headlight has a built-in 4-lens design to enhance the lighting effect and effectively improve the safety of riding at night.
Moreover, this model is equipped with an AFS headlight follow-up steering system. When the turn signal is turned on, the low beam on the same side will light up an additional light area to illuminate part of the corner, and such configuration is rare in scooters market and motorcycles market.
The VRS125 has the same LED taillights and ESS emergency brake flashing warning system as Dayang ADV150. When braking suddenly, the taillights will flash at a very high frequency, and the double flashing function of the vehicle will automatically be active to effectively warn the vehicles behind to avoid dangerous situations.
As for the instrument, the VRS125 is equipped with a large-size monochrome LCD instrument displaying the complete content. In addition, the standard version/ABS version provides a flameout switch near the right handle, but the switch of TCS version at the same position is to control the TCS system.
The VRS125 is really not outstanding. Due to the large fuel tank and the double-high air intake, the seat space becomes relatively cramped and only fit some small-sized half helmets. The seat bucket space of VRS125 will be smaller than that of similar models.
However, the space of the front storage box is quite considerable, both in depth and volume. 2-3 bottles of mineral water can be held on the left side. The carrying capacity of the vehicle can be further enhanced because of the storage hook, large flat pedals and the original aluminum alloy rear shelf.
Although VRS125 is the so-called scooter, it is larger than the regular scooters because its wheelbase is up to 1350mm while few 125CC scooters have the wheelbase of more than1300mm.
In terms of the driving system, Dayang VRS is equipped with front and rear disc brakes, and the front one-way dual-piston caliper with the rear single-piston caliper. In addition, the ABS version is equipped with dual-channel ABS.
The front shock absorber is an upright non-adjustable shock absorber, and the rear shock absorber has a multi-stage preload adjustable function. It adopts Chengyuan tires, and the front tire is 110-70-12 and the rear is 120-70-12. The rear wheel has a design of a multi-layer mudguard structure.
The launch of Dayang VRS125 and VPS125 make effect on the well-known 125CC scooter in the market. Compared with competing products, the VRS125 starting at 10,980 yuan will be slightly more expensive, but it has obvious configuration and power advantages. The VRS125 is a 125CC scooter adopting the hybrid, automatic start-stop, silent start, front and rear disc brakes, and optional ABS and TCS systems.
