The lithium battery business is the second growth pole in Tianneng’s development layout. In November 2019, Tianneng signed a cooperation agreement with SAFT, a subsidiary of France’s Total Group, a fortune 500 company. The two sides integrate their advantages in technology, production and marketing to develop, manufacture and sell advanced lithium battery products for the Chinese and global markets. Tianneng, with the help of SAFT, accelerated the expansion of lithium battery business.

Under the tide of global energy structure transformation and rapid development of new energy industry, Tianneng has always practiced green development and deeply cultivated green energy, taking scientific and technological innovation as the core driving force, and continuously made important contributions to promoting the new energy industry to a new stage.

Multi-technology development

At present, Tianneng has completed three technological changes of green development of lead storage batteries, and figures out a balanced, steady and sustainable development road. While securing the leading position in acid battery, Tianneng is actively deploying a multi-technology route.

For mainstream lead-acid batteries and lithium ion batteries, Tianneng has mastered the graphene composites, multivariate composite rare earth alloy, ultra ferromanganese lithium and other new materials technologies. It is also actively working on new materials such as lead carbon batteries, pure lead batteries, and fuel cells.

In 2019, Tiannengand SAFT established a joint venture subsidiary. Relying on their respective advantages, Tianneng created a double-cycle safety system of technology and service, promoted the transformation and upgrading of Tianneng lithium batteries, continuously integrating safety into green mobility.

In December 2021, Tianneng ITR18650-2600E battery cell was successfully delivered to SAFT, which opened a new starting point for the “space” application scenario.

Tianneng actively explores the application of hydrogen fuel cell in the field of two-wheeled vehicles, and cooperates with Yadea to promote hydrogen fuel two-wheeler batteries. In addition, several fuel cell systems independently developed by Tianneng have been successfully applied in city buses and forklifts. It has reached strategic cooperation with Jinlong, Geely and XCMG.

Heading towards emission reduction goals

Under the background of “carbon peaking and neutrality” goals, the future development prospect of new energy storage is extremely broad. Tianneng is actively exploring energy resources and adopting a green, intelligent and global development path to continuously promote the development of energy storage technology. It developed the lead carbon storage battery that has won the China Industry Award. It also cooperates with SAFT to develop new high-end storage system, and has built Changxing energy storage station, Quzhou energy storage station, the Gambia energy storage station, and African photovoltaic energy storage off-grid project. In addition to providing a series of products for 5G base stations, communication pylons, and park energy storage, it is also committed to meeting the demand for energy storage in families and output green energy for creating a zero-carbon lifestyle.

In March 2022, Tianneng signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Huzhou Power Supply Company of State Grid. According to the agreement, the two parties will start all-round cooperation in energy storage, microgrid, energy service, technology research and development, power construction and other energy-related fields, indicating that energy storage has played an important role in power generation, grids and users of new power systems.

Technology innovation promotes industry development

Driven by “business + technology + capital”, Tianneng accelerates the technical route layout, and improves the research and development system. It set up lithium, hydrogen, and lead battery research institutes, and R&D centers for car batteries, industrial batteries, smart energy and energy storage. Tianneng’s central research institute, research institutes of business divisions and technology departments of manufacturing bases have their respective priorities and supplement each other.

Tianneng continues to lead the rapid development of the industry through technological innovation. Tianneng’s R&D investment accounts for a large proportion of its revenue. At present, Tianneng has established a professional R&D team of more than 1,000 people and obtained thousands of patents.

By the end of 2021, Tianneng ranked third on the list of “Patent Applications of Enterprises Listed o the Science and Technology Innovation Board”, with 4,681 patent application. As the “hard” index of the evaluation of scientific innovation, intellectual property reflects enterprises’ competitiveness in the commercialization process of core technological achievements, and the number of patent achievements reflects the strong technology foundation of scientific innovation enterprises.

In addition, Tianneng continues to deepen digital and intelligent manufacturing. Through the “digital interactive marketing front office + digital value creation mid-office + digital IoT back office”, Tianneng enables green energy solutions that focus on clean energy, smart energy, and recycling. In recent years, Tianneng SAFE has launched many key digital projects such as high-energy lithium battery project, TOS digital factory,and high-performance green intelligent project.
