Dakar Rally SS5: Attiya took this stage champion

2023 Dakar Rally stage 5 ended on January 5th. Al-Attiya won the stage championship in 4 hours, 13 minutes and 23 seconds. Sainz ranked second and his teammate Peterhansel ranked third.

The start and end points of the SS5 is Huyler, with a total length of 646 km, including the special leg of 375 km.
In the car group, Loeb, who won the stage championship in SSS4, lost 20 minutes because of the rollover. In the Audi team, Mattias Ekstroem suffered a mechanical failure, and Sainz and Peterhansel won the second and third respectively. The stage championship still belongs to Al-Attiya, who takes the lead and has a leading advantage of more than 22 minutes in the over all score.
In terms of Chinese drivers, BAIC ORV Team Zhang Guoyu/Jean-Pierre ranked 17th, Han Wei/Ma Li 22nd, Zi Yunliang/Sha He 69th, Tian Po/Du Xuanyi 77th.
In the motorcycle group, Barred, who won the stage championship in SSS4, suffered a crash, but fortunately, there is no serious problem. Another Honda rider, Van Beveren, won his first stage championship in 5 years, and the leader of the overall score became Howes, followed by Pryce.
As for the Chinese motorcyclists, Sunil ranked 36th, Deng Liansong 48th, Zhang Min 69th, Zhao Hongyi 70th, Zaker 82nd, and Fang Mingji 95th.
On January 6, the competition of 2023 Dakar Rally stage 6 took place. Starting from Huyler and ending at Dawadmi, this leg is 635 km, of which the special leg is 421 km.
