A New Force of Big Scooter
Many motorcyclists would consider JC200T (Tiramisu) when they bought a commuting scooter in the early days. As one of the first generation big scooters, JC200T has proven itself in several ways.
Last year, the Italian brand ADIVA formally entered the Chinese market, and came into cooperation with Jincheng. One year later, the two brands have launched their jointly-developed big scooter AJ201, which is based on JC200T’s power platform. What makes this big scooter of mixed Chinese and Italian descent stand out?
Looks
AJ201 is changed in the front design after incorporating ADVIA elements, with more prominent front lines and stronger impression of sports essential. The water tank is optimized and adjusted, and the air inlet is changed to be combination of line and grid.
AJ201 features an 80,000-cd LED headlight, which is four times the international standard of 20,000-cd. The combination of the circular riding lamp around the headlight and the light bars on both sides of the main panel is highly recognizable, increasing the safety of daily and night riding.
AJ201 adopts the combined mechanical pointer and LCD screen. The three pointers respectively indicate the remaining fuel, speed, and temperature of water tank. The LCD screen provides information such as time, mileage and voltage.
The front and rear 16-inch tires are the main feature of the big scooter. The larger hub gives AJ201 a significant advantage in handling, passing ability and acceleration. In the domestic scooter market, although big scooters are not that much, there are still several models with excellent reputation, such as Jincheng JC200T, Piaggio Medley and Liberty, which are all famous for their large hub size.
Both the front and rear brakes are disc brakes and matched with Bosch 10.0 dual channel ABS system.
AJ201 carries an 189cc single-cylinder water-cooled four-valve DOHC engine with a maximum power of 14.1kw/8,250rpm, a maximum torque of 16.5N·m/6,500rpm, and an officially-claimed top speed of 126km/h. AJ201’s engine electric injection system has received new adjustment to get a very smooth throttle. The response of the engine and exhaust seems to be a little more impulsive and sportier.
On the road
During the test ride, AJ201 was basically running on city roads and showed adequate power. However, there is no obvious power difference after switching between ECO and Sport modes.
Thanks to the advantages of large hub and large displacement, AJ201 has an early explosive power point. The 0-40kpm acceleration was clearly felt on the accelerator. At the same time, significant sense of acceleration was also felt at 80kpm. It is a pity that AJ201 has no tachometer.
Big hub brings not only strong feeling of power but also improved handling. AJ201’s directionless and tracking ability are great, providing better riding comfort and passion.
The adjustment of front and rear shock absorbers is for better comfort, with a little insufficiency in the rebound speed at fast direction changing. However, everything is perfect for daily use, but if you ride into a mountain, you cannot take too drastic operation.
In addition, the front and rear disc brakes as well as the Bosch 10.0 ABS are very precise in the trigger point of heavy braking and the handlebar strength, giving a very reassuring experience.
Conclusion
The large hub and the reputable large-displacement engine make AJ201 a compelling choice for many consumers.
Overall, AJ201’s appearance has aroused people’s interest in big scooters, and the young design style is more appealing to younger users. Jincheng’s partnership with AIDVA has enhanced its brand image. (Source: WeChat: ZIYOUJIXIE/xiniunongchang)
