China’s Fuel Motorcycle in April 2025: Production and Sales Increased Steadily
In April, China’s motorcycle market continued its good development momentum, with production and sales increasing both month-on-month and year-on-year, and the growth rate of foreign trade exports was particularly significant. From January to April, the sales of large-displacement motorcycles for leisure and entertainment continued to maintain a high growth trend; in the domestic market, the sales of fuel motorcycles declined slightly, while electric motorcycles continued to grow. Overall, the motorcycle industry maintained a stable and positive development trend.
Production and sales Situation
In April, the industry produced and sold 1.7483 million and 1.7151 million fuel motorcycles, increased 8.83% and 8.72% month-on-month, and increased 19.36% and 19.08% year-on-year; the production and sales of electric motorcycles were 277,100 and 266,000, down 21.78% and 22.67% month-on-month, and down 7.1% and 15.36% year-on-year. In April, motorcycle production and sales reached 2.0254 million units and 1.9812 million units respectively, representing a month-on-month increase of 3.3% and 3.1%, and a year-on-year increase of 14.89% and 12.91%. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 1.7884 million units and 1.7466 million units, increased 4.41% and 4.46% month-on-month, and 16.36% and 14.14% year-on-year. The production and sales of large-displacement leisure and entertainment motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 97,000 and 93,000, increased 9.73% and 5.56% month-on-month, and increased 35.85% and 27.75% year-on-year. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 237,000 and 234,600, down 4.38% and 6.04% month-on-month, and up 4.88% and 4.52% year-on-year.
From January to April, the industry produced and sold 5.8103 million and 5.8111 million fuel motorcycles, increased 17.35% and 17.5% year-on-year; the industry produced and sold 1.088 million and 1.067 million electric motorcycles, increased 9.85% and 7.63% year-on-year. From January to April, a total of 6.8983 million and 6.8781 million motorcycles were produced and sold, with a year-on-year increase of 16.1% and 15.85%. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 6.0804 million and 6.0585 million, with a year-on-year increase of 17.53% and 17.28%; the production and sales of large-displacement leisure and entertainment motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 304,800 and 297,800, with a year-on-year increase of 64.22% and 58.24%. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 818,000 and 819,600, with a year-on-year increase of 6.45% and 6.29%.
From January to April, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(749,600 units), Loncin(600,500 units), Zongshen(357,400 units), Tayo(343,500 units), Sundiro-Honda(259,100 units), Yinxiang(223,800 units), Haojin(219,800 units), Dayang(204,600 units), Jiangmen Summit(200,600 units), and Wuyang-Honda(173,400 units).
From January to April, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(366,900 units), Luyuan(160,700 units), Zongshen(153,000 units), Jiangsu Sunra(89,600 units), CFMOTO(58,400 units), Huaihai(55,400 units), Bus New Energy(52,700 units), Lovol(27,000 units), Loncin(21,700 units), and Jinyi(19,800 units).
Export Situation
In April, 1.2009 million motorcycles were exported, increased 9.39% month-on-month and 30.15% year-on-year; the export value was $2.69 billion, increased 6.69% month-on-month and 33.84% year-on-year. Among them, 1.1422 million two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, increased 9.9% month-on-month and 27.79% year-on-year; 58,700 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, increased 0.4% month-on-month and 102.89% year-on-year.
From January to April, the total export value of motorcycle manufacturing enterprises was $3.336 billion, a year-on-year increase of 28.88%. The export volume of complete vehicles was 4.1283 million, a year-on-year increase of 28.33%, and the export value was $2.69 billion, a year-on-year increase of 30.58%. 444,900 motorcycle engines were exported, increased 18.49% year-on-year, and the export value was $87 million, increased 0.83% year-on-year. The export volume of ATVs was 136,400 units, increased 5.27% year-on-year, and the export value was $405 million, increased 23.69% year-on-year. The export volume of motorcycle parts was $154 million, increased 34.08% year-on-year.
