From January to February, China’s motorcycle industry ran steadily and improved, foreign trade exports continued to grow, and domestic and foreign sales of large-displacement models above 250ml rose simultaneously; the domestic market of electric motorcycle recovery was obvious, fuel motorcycle sales were basically flat. The product structure of China’s motorcycle industry continues to optimize, and remarkable results have been achieved in transformation and upgrading.

Production and sales Situation

In February, the entire industry completed the production and sales of 1,077,500 and 1,116,600 fuel motorcycles, with the production and sales down 21.81% and 20.35% month-on-month, and increase 39.86% and 35.94% year-on-year. According to incomplete statistics of the Chamber of Commerce, electric motorcycle production and sales of 249,500 and 242,500 units, production and sales increased by 20.46% and 13.08% month-on-month, and increased 100.82% and 96.6% year-on-year. In February, a total of 1.327 million and 1.3591 million motorcycles were produced and sold, down 16.29% and 15.91% month-on-month, and increased 48.33% and 43.86% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheel vehicles were 1,158,100 and 1,195,700 units, down 18.5% and 17.21% month-on-month, and increase 48.23% and 44.36% year-on-year. Large displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) production and sales of 55,000 and 57,700units, down 14.6% and 2.2% month-on-month, and increased of 207.26% and 134.55% year-on-year. Three-wheeled motorcycle production and sales of 168,900 and 163,400 units, the output increased by 2.84% month-on-month, the sales down 5% month-on-month, the production and sales increased 48.98% and 40.28% year-on-year.

From January to February, the entire industry completed the production and sales of 2,455,700 and 2,518,400 fuel motorcycles, increased 16.96% and 16.21% year-on-year; the production and sales of electric motorcycles were 456,600 and 456,900 units, increased 29.98% and 33.55% year-on-year. From January to February, a total of 2,912,200 and 2,975,400 motorcycles were produced and sold, increased 18.82% and 18.57% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheel motorcycles were 2,579,100 and 2,639,900 units, increased 19.86% and 19.66% year-on-year; the production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement above 250cc, excluding 250cc) were 119,400 and 116,700 units, increased 89.22% and 84.94% year-on-year. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 333,200 and 335,400 units, increased 11.34% and 10.7% year-on-year.

From January to February, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(320,900 units), Loncin(266,600 units), Zongshen(153,900 units), Tayo(141,800 units), Yinxiang(114,000 units), Sundiro-Honda(97,400 units), Haojin(90,000 units), Dayang(79,600 units), Jiangmen Summit(79,200 units), Wuyang-Honda(79,000 units). These 10 enterprises sold a total of 1,4222,200 motorcycles, accounting for 56.47% of the total sales of motorcycles.

From January to July, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(180,900 units), Luyuan(68,700 units), Zongshen(57,800 units), Sunra(41,000 units), Bus New Energy(23,100 units), Huaihai(21,200 units), CFMOTO(11,200 units), Lovol(10,400 units), Loncin(8,800 units), Jinyi(8,000 units). These 10 enterprises sold a total of 431,100 electric motorcycles, accounting for 94.35% of the total sales of electric motorcycles.

Export Situation

From January to February, China’s motorcycle foreign trade exports continued to grow, and the export volume declined year-on-year and increased month-on-month; and the cumulative export volume and export value increased significantly.

In February, the export of motorcycles was 759,800, down 27.42% month-on-month, and increased 41.39% year-on-year. Exports amounted to $514 million, down 22.38% month-on-month and increased 45.98% year-on-year. Among them, the exportation of two-wheel motorcycles was 722,400 units, down 27.52% month-on-month, increased 40.1% year-on-year; three-wheeled motorcycles were exported to 37,300 units, down 25.44% month-on-month and increased 51.41% year-on-year. From January to February, the total export volume of motorcycle production enterprises was $1.46 billion, increased 24.88% year-on-year. The total vehicle export volume was 1.8067 million units, increased 24.29% year-on-year, and the export amount was $1.176 billion, increased 24.41% year-on-year. Motorcycle engine exports of 217,600 units, increased 26.17% year-on-year, the export amount of $43 million, increased 11.82% year-on-year. 63,000 ATVs were exported, increased of 8.75% year-on-year, and the export amount was $176 million, increased 33.86% year-on-year. The export value of motorcycle parts was $65 million, increased 20.61% year-on-year.

From January to February, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Tayo, Yinxiang, Zongshen, Haojin, Jiangmen Summit, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, RATO. The above ten enterprises exported a total of 1.114200 million units, accounting for 61.67% of the total export of motorcycles.
