China’s Fuel Motorcycle in July: Continuous Optimization of Product Structure & Increasing Trend of Large-displacement Entertainment Motorcycles
In July, China’s motorcycle production and sales increased obviously month-on-month, and the production increased and sales decreased year-on-year, with the rapid increasing foreign trade exports and the stable domestic sales. From January to July, driven by export, fuel motorcycles continued to increase, while the decline in domestic sales further narrowed. Large-displacement entertainment motorcycles maintained a high growth trend, with the optimized product structure.The motorcycle industry has kept a stable and positive development trend.
Production & Sales
In July, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 1,504,700 and 485,600 units respectively, a month-on-month increase of 1.41% in production and a month-on-month decrease of 0.3% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 14.6% and 14.72%. The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 325,000 and 345,400 units respectively, a month-on-month increase of 9.24% and 11.33%, and a year-on-year decrease of 17.98% in production and a year-on-year decrease of 7.12% in sales. The entire industry produced and sold a total of 1,829,800 and 1,830,900 motorcycles respectively in July, a month-on-month increase of 2.72% and 1.71%, and a year-on-year increase of 7.05% and 9.85%. The production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 1,616,300 and 1,616,500 respectively in July, a month-on-month increase of 1.63% and 0.47%, and a year-on-year increase of 6.64% and 9.61%. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) produced and sold 83,200 and 72,600 units, a month-on-month decrease of 4.91% in production and 19.42% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 52.94% in production and 34.94% in sales. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 213,500 and 214,400 respectively, a month-on-month increase of 11.83% and 12.13%, and a year-on-year increase of 10.29% and 11.7%.
From January to June, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 9.4011 million and 9.3693 million units, a year-on-year increase of 11.81% and 10.95%. Electric motorcycle production and sales were 1.9201 million and 1.9782 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 43.63% and 34.54%. From January to July, the total production and sales of motorcycles were 11.3213 million and 11.3475 million, down 4.18% and 1.04% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 9.9423 million and 9.9614 million, down 5.09% and 1.58% year-on-year. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) were 436,000 and 428,100, up 43.94% and 37.34% year-on-year, respectively. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 1,379,000 and 1,386,100 units, a year-on-year increase of 3.02% and 3.07%.
From January to July, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Zongshen, Tayo, Sundiro-Honda, Yinxiang, Luoyang Northern Group, Haojin, Wuyang-Honda, and Summit Motor. 10 companies mentioned above sold a total of 5,234,300 motorcycles, accounting for 55.87% of the total sales of motorcycles.
From January to July, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea (935,100 units), Zongshen (270,700 units), Luyuan (212,500 units), Sunra (144,800 units), Huaihai (113,800 units), Bus New Energy (87,000 units), Wuxing (37,500 units), Tailg (36,900 units), Loncin (30,500 units), and Jinyi (29,100 units).
Export Situation
In July, motorcycle exports were 1,011,100 units, an increase of 2.07% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 28.45%. The export value was US$605 million, a decrease of 3.92% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 16.72%. Among them, the export of two-wheeled motorcycles was 969,800 units, an increase of 2.04% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 28.05%. The export of three-wheeled motorcycles was 41,400 units, an increase of 2.83% month-on-month and a year-on-year increase of 38.54%.
From January to July, the total export volume of motorcycle manufacturers was US$4.924 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.23%. The export volume of complete vehicles was 6.162 million units, a year-on-year increase of 27.82%, and the export value was US$ 3.915 billion, a year-on-year increase of 19.61%. Motorcycle engine exports were 656,600 units, a year-on-year increase of 11.5%, and the export value was US$ 143 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.51%. The export volume of ATVs was 271,200 units, a year-on-year increase of 34.24%, and the export value was US$650 million, a year-on-year increase of 30.61%. The export value of motorcycle parts was US$ 216 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.74%.
From January to July, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Tayo, Yinxiang, Haojin, Zongshen, Summit Motor, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan and Rato. The above 10 companies exported a total of 3.6726 million units, accounting for 59.6% of total motorcycle exports.
