China’s Motorcycle Production and Sales Rise in November as Export Growth Moderates

In November, China’s motorcycle industry recorded year-on-year and month-on-month growth in both production and sales. Foreign trade exports continued to post solid growth, although the pace of increase moderated. From a cumulative January–November perspective, the leisure and recreational large-displacement motorcycle segment maintained strong momentum, while sustained export expansion provided robust support for the industry’s high-quality development.
Production and Sales Performance
In November, the industry produced and sold 1.5296 million and 1.4807 million fuel motorcycles, up 5.68% and 1.95% month on month, and 9.61% and 7.43% year on year, respectively. Electric motorcycles recorded production and sales of 316,900 and 309,400 units, representing month-on-month growth of 3.25% and 2.73%, and year-on-year increases of 18.49% and 14.98%.

Total motorcycle production and sales for the month reached 1.8465 million and 1.7901 million units, up 5.26% and 2.08% month on month, and 11.04% and 8.67% year on year. Domestic motorcycle sales totaled 726,400 units, up 3.39% month on month and 4.5% year on year. Domestic sales of fuel-powered motorcycles stood at 424,600 units, up 4.78% month on month but down 1.17% year on year. By category, two-wheel motorcycles posted production and sales of 1.6021 million and 1.5541 million units, up 6.96% and 3.57% month on month, and 12.5% and 10.4% year on year. Large-displacement leisure and recreational motorcycles (over 250cc, excluding 250cc) recorded production and sales of 67,300 and 61,000 units, with month-on-month increases of 5.65% and 0.16%, and year-on-year growth of 10.33% and 11.31%. Three-wheel motorcycles produced and sold 244,400 and 236,000 units, down 4.67% and 6.72% month on month; production rose 2.32% year on year, while sales declined 1.5%.
From January to November, the industry produced and sold 16.8395 million and 16.8235 million fuel motorcycles, up 9.61% and 7.43% year on year. Electric motorcycle production and sales reached 3.2726 million and 3.2020 million units, up 4.44% and 0.02%, respectively. Total motorcycle production and sales for the first eleven months amounted to 20.1121 million and 20.0255 million units, up 10.76% and 10.23% year on year. Domestic motorcycle sales totaled 7.9432 million units, down 3.19% year on year; domestic sales of fuel-powered motorcycles were 4.7822 million units, down 5.07%. Two-wheel motorcycles recorded production and sales of 17.5637 million and 17.4800 million units, up 10.82% and 10.27% year on year. Large-displacement leisure and recreational motorcycles (over 250cc, excluding 250cc) achieved production and sales of 900,000 and 883,300 units, surging 27.88% and 28.22%, respectively. Three-wheel motorcycles produced and sold 2.5484 million and 2.5455 million units, up 10.36% and 9.95% year on year.

From January to October, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(2,445,600 units), Loncin(1,439,900 units), Zongshen(1,038,700 units), Tayo(996,500 units), Sundiro-Honda(910,200 units), Haojin(672,200 units), Yinxiang(644,900 units), Dayang(564,900 units), Wuyang-Honda(529,800 units) and Jiangmen Summit(484,100 units).
From January to October, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea Group(863,800 units), Luyuan(513,200 units), Zongshen(423,500 units), Huaihai(316,200 units), CFMOTO(253,300 units), Jiangsu Sunra(240,900 units), Bus New Energy(185,400 units), Lovol(70,700 units), Loncin(62,800 units), and TAIGL(56,900 units).
Export Performance
In November, motorcycle exports totaled 1.0637 million units, up 1.21% month on month and 11.74% year on year. Export value reached USD 715 million, up 4.91% month on month and 18.35% year on year. Of this total, two-wheel motorcycle exports were 1.0155 million units, up 0.94% month on month and 12.09% year on year, while three-wheel motorcycle exports stood at 48,200 units, up 7.05% month on month and 4.92% year on year.

From January to November, total export value of motorcycle manufacturers’ products reached USD 9.917 billion, up 25.21% year on year. Complete motorcycle exports totaled 12.0823 million units, up 21.27%, with export value of USD 7.993 billion, up 27.26%. Motorcycle engine exports reached 1.2169 million units, up 17.3%, with a value of USD 244 million, up 11.8%. ATVs exports totaled 433,500 units, down 1.51%, while export value rose 20.02% to USD 1.277 billion. Motorcycle parts exports amounted to USD 402 million, up 12.93%.

During the January–November period, the top ten motorcycle exporters by volume were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Haojin, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, Jiangmen Summit, and Bashan. Together, these companies exported 7.3982 million units, accounting for 61.23% of China’s total motorcycle exports.
