Affected by the Chinese New Year holiday, motorcycle production and sales in February declined compared with January, while foreign trade exports maintained notable year-on-year growth. Looking at the cumulative performance in January–February, strong demand from overseas markets continued to drive the industry, with production and sales achieving steady growth. Motorcycle exports sustained a high-growth trend, and the overall industry maintained stable and healthy development.

Production and Sales Performance

In February, the industry produced and sold 1.0851 million and 1.2171 million gasoline motorcycles respectively, down 36.23% and 29.48% month-on-month, but up 0.65% and 8.95% year-on-year. According to incomplete statistics from the chamber of commerce, electric motorcycles recorded production and sales of 110,900 and 120,300 units, down 65.08% and 58.97% month-on-month, and down 57.48% and 52.63% year-on-year. Total motorcycle production and sales in February reached 1.196 million and 1.3374 million units, down 40.77% and 33.76% month-on-month, and down 10.67% and 2.45% year-on-year.  Domestic motorcycle sales stood at 1.0682 million units, down 46.04% month-on-month and 37.65% year-on-year. Domestic sales of gasoline motorcycles reached 672,300 units, down 35.76% month-on-month and 24.7% year-on-year.

Among them, two-wheel motorcycles reached production and sales of 1.0668 million and 1.1994 million units, down 40.63% and 33.35% month-on-month. Production decreased 7.93% year-on-year, while sales increased 0.27% year-on-year. Large-displacement recreational motorcycles (above 250cc, excluding 250cc) recorded production and sales of 39,100 and 45,900 units, down 40.31% and 28.06% month-on-month, but up 19.09% and 10.57% year-on-year. Three-wheel motorcycles reached production and sales of 129,300 and 138,000 units, down 41.88% and 37.11% month-on-month, and down 28.31% and 21.06% year-on-year.

From January to February, the industry produced and sold 2.7867 million and 2.9431 million gasoline motorcycles, up 13.45% and 16.83% year-on-year. Electric motorcycle production and sales totaled 428,700 and 413,400 units, down 9.47% and 12.76% year-on-year. Overall motorcycle production and sales during the period reached 3.2154 million and 3.3565 million units, up 9.75% and 12.15% year-on-year. Among them, two-wheel motorcycles recorded 2.8637 million units produced and 2.9991 million units sold, up 11.01% and 13.58% year-on-year. Large-displacement recreational motorcycles (above 250cc, excluding 250cc) reached 104,700 units produced and 109,700 units sold, down 12.31% and 6% year-on-year. Three-wheel motorcycles recorded production and sales of 351,700 and 357,400 units, up 0.46% and 1.44% year-on-year.

From January to February, the top 10 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang(453,700 units), Loncin(208,100 units), Yinxiang(207,900 units), Tayo(203,600 units), Zongshen(286,400 units), Sundiro-Honda(153,800 units), Haojin(110,500 units), Dayang(84,700 units), Wuyang- Honda(80,800 units) and Jiangmen Summit(73,000 units).

Export Performance

In February, motorcycle exports reached 963,100 units, down 27.33% month-on-month but up 24.96% year-on-year. Export value totaled USD 670 million, down 22.37% month-on-month but up 29.21% year-on-year. Among them, two-wheel motorcycle exports reached 913,900 units, down 27.79% month-on-month but up 24.67% year-on-year, while three-wheel motorcycle exports totaled 49,200 units, down 17.59% month-on-month but up 30.73% tear-on-year.

From January to February, the total export value of products from motorcycle manufacturers reached USD 1.914 billion, up 30.15% year-on-year. Motorcycle exports totaled 2.2884 million units, up 25.07%, with an export value of USD 1.532 billion, up 29.3% year-on-year. During the same period, motorcycle engine exports reached 166,400 units, down 23.56% year-on-year, with export value of USD 35 million, down 18.48%. ATV exports reached 80,000 units, up 27.04%, with export value of USD 271 million, up 54.3% year-on-year. Motorcycle parts & accessories exports totaled USD 73 million, up 12.45% year-on-year.

From January to February, the top 10 companies by motorcycle export value were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Tayo, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Zongshen, CFMOTO, QJMOTOR, Haojin and SYM. The combined export value of these companies reached USD 991 million, accounting for 64.69% of the total motorcycle export value.
