At this year’s MOTOR CHINA in May, GWM’ motorcycle brand SOUO unveiled its first 8-cyclinder model, the H8, capturing significant global attention.

The design inspiration for the SOUO H8 comes from the “Chinese Lion Dance.” The headlights draw from the concept of “Dynamic Light Language,” while the body posture takes the “Ready to Pounce” stance of the lion before its leap as the design direction. The seamless taillight also echoes the headlights. The exhibition showcased four color schemes: red, white, black, and black-gold, offering different versions such as the three-box backrest and two-box models.

In terms of power, the H8 is equipped with GWM’s independently developed, globally unique, horizontally opposed 8-cyclinder engine with a displacement of 2000cc. Paired with an eight-speed forward and reverse dual-clutch automatic transmission, it offers a smooth and effortless shifting experience, allowing riders to enjoy powerful performance with a fluid and comfortable ride.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s new vehicle directory revealed the SOUO H8 application photos. This time, two models were applied for: the three-box version and the two-box version, both featuring the 2.0L horizontally opposed 8-cyclinder engine.

The three-box version includes large side boxes and a massive rear box with an integrated backrest and armrests, enhancing rear passenger comfort. It has a curb weight of 461kg. The two-box version, without the rear box, features only the side boxes. With a curb weight of 450kg, it is more lightweight, with a lower center of gravity for more agile handling. Both versions share the same dimensions, with the highest point of the body at the windshield. The body dimensions are 2660/950/1540mm, a wheelbase of 1810mm, a seat height of 740mm, and tire specifications of 130/70 R18 at the front and 200/55 R16 at the rear.

GWM announced that the SOUO H8 would be officially launched two months later. Now, its appearance in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology directory indicates that the launch is imminent. Once on the market, it is expected to become a strong competitor in the luxury touring motorcycle segment.
