JEDI MOTOR – An Ambitious Large-displacement Motorcycles Brand
JEDI MOTOR, aspiring to be the best large-displacement motorcycle brand in China, held an unveiling ceremony in its Jinan factory’s No. 3 workshop on the morning of September 6th. Li Jicai, chairman of JEDI MOTOR and some executives attended this ceremony. The Vision K750, the first large-displacement race-aping model of JEDI MOTOR, made its debut with the witness of many media and some dealers. Its release will lead to more fierce competition among Chinese 600-800cc motorcycles in the displacement.
Vision K750 highlights three top-level systems
Vision K750 is the third large-displacement model after FR750 and JEDI 750. The concept was unveiled at last year’s CIMAMotor and attracted many motorcyclists with its elegant appearance and sci-fi styling. More than 200 units of Vision K750 have been preordered before it is officially launched into the market with a price tag.
At the off-line ceremony, Vision K750 basically retained the overall shape of the conceptual model. It is greatly sporty because of the streamline shape to reduce wind resistance. In addition, It is equipped with the independently developed diamond headlights and taillights flicker at startup.
What’s more, Vision K750 adopts the first domestic magnesium-aluminum alloy double wing spar by the low-pressure casting, the rear flat fork and subframe to form a racing-level chassis system that is highly intensive and flexible. The handling performance of Vision K750 is improved by stabilizing the model and reducing the weight.
In terms of power, the Vision K750 is equipped with a parallel twin-cylinder water-cooled engine with an actual displacement of 730.4cc that is jointly developed by JEDI and SUTER. This model adopts an all-aluminum plasma sprayed ceramic cylinder with a compression ratio of 12.2:1 (standard version) and 12.5:1 (high-power version). The official peak power is 60KW and the maximum torque is 70N.m. In addition, Vision K750 also adopts racing-grade multi-link independent suspension and three-axis concentric structure including the rocker shaft, the engine suspension shaft and the frame professionally tuned by the Swiss SUTER team, which can effectively reduce the vibration of the engine and the body, and greatly improve the comfort and control of riding.
Vision K750 has the high-quality configurations such as KYB fully adjustable inverted front shock absorber, central KYB airbag rear shock absorber, Brembo brake system, direct- drive upper pump, Bosch EFI system and dual-channel ABS system, keyless start, Internet of vehicles multi-function TFT instrument, Michelin and other high-performance tires, etc. The high-standard configuration is undoubtedly popular in the current large-displacement motorcycle market in China. There is no doubt that this model isn’t cheap.
JEDI Vision K750 is at a high level from engine system, frame system to external configuration, so how about its quality control and manufacturing process?
European industry 4.0 standard workshop
Besides the good configuration and appearance, more focus is on the manufacturing level of JEDI MOTOR.
JEDI’s production workshop with constant temperature, constant humidity and dust-free, covers four major processes including stamping and welding, machining, painting and final assembly. There are Panasonic robot, double-station automatic welding line, independent welding workstation and automatic laser CNC machine tool. In addition, JEDI has the Japanese Mazak (Mazak) vertical high-precision machining center and automatic machining line. It also has CLASS 4 workshop cleanliness, Germany BASF high-gloss paint, annular accumulation and flexible engine assembly line. It is worth mentioning that EDI has planned a robot automatic assembly workstation and Xi’an Newwell vehicle assembly inspection line. All of them ensure product consistency.
After the off-line ceremony, the media present conducted a road test and a test drive of Gymkhana. They praised the Vision K750 after the test drive. Its configurations is above the standard, which include the power output, the strength of the frame system on the track, the comfort of the riding triangle, the acceleration on the straights and the torque performance in the corners. More detailed data can only be obtained after a long-distance road test. There are also shortcomings. First of all, the whole vehicle has not been carefully adjusted because it was just off the assembly line so that and the performance isn’t at the best state. For example, it isn’t perfect in terms of the braking comfort performance of Brembo on the straight road and there are some subtle noise. In addition, its color is slightly calm and conservative. The 750cc model is aimed at the fast-moving generation Z crowd, so its color system should be more publicized and individual.
The Vision K750 at this stage is still a public beta version, and the official listing date has not yet been determined. It is believed that the production version of the Vision K750 will be even better after the test drive feedback from the media.
For an emerging large-displacement motorcycle brand, JEDI MOTOR need make more efforts to compete with itself. It’s worth looking forward to witness whether JEDI MOTOR can realize its ambition.
