Major Chinese Motorcycle Products At The 2021 Beijing Motorcycle Exhibition(Part 2- SWM & HANWAY & JEDI MOTOR)
SWM, as an Italian brand, was invested by SHINERAY. After several years’ effort, SWM changes from a big trader to CKD. This time, SWM appeared in the Beijing exhibition with a new brand image and released three models: SD650, SM500 and SM150, which are all single cylinder machines with high positioning.
SM150 is positioned as an entry-level supermotor. It is powered by a liquid-cooled 150cc four-valve engine, with a maximum power of 11.5kW and a maximum torque of 12.5N·m. At the same time, it adopts a lightweight design, split aluminum alloy frame and rear flat fork, with a curb weight of only 132kg. It is also equipped with FsxtAce inverted shock absorber and Timsun professional sliding tires.
The SM500 is a “hardcore” supermotor and the only licensed high performance supermotor among 500 displacement versions so far.
It adopts single-cylinder liquid-cooled 501cc competitive engine, with the maximum power of 38kW, larger than the domestic equivalent two-cylinder engines, and the maximum torque of 34N·m. It also adopts split aluminum alloy frame and rear flat fork, with a weight of only 146kg. In terms of configuration, SM500 uses the Europe-specific KYB shock absorbers, Brembo front and rear brake floating disc brake, and ABS system. It is worth mentioning that the original factory also released trial kit for replacement, which greatly expanded the model’s playability.
SD650 is positioned as an ADV with strong off-road performance. It is a personalized product designed by SWM in combination with its own off-road culture under the background of the vigorous development of domestic motorcycle travel culture. Designed by SWM Europe, it has an “adventure style” that delivers decent performance.
SD650 adopts a single cylinder 600cc liquid-cooled engine with a compression ratio of 12.4:1, maximum power of 40kW/7,500rpm, maximum torque of 56N·m/6,500rpm, vacuum tires of the front 19 and back 17 wheels, and fuel tank volume of 18L.
The whole vehicle adopts aluminum alloy frame and rear flat fork, with a curb weight of 196kg. SD650 is equipped with a 45mm FastAce inverted shock absorber, SACHS professional rear shock absorber with quick adjustment, Brembo front and rear disc brakes and an ABS which can be shut down.
After years of preparation, SWM has greatly reduced the rate of imported parts on the basis of fully integrating the Chinese supply chain to ensure performance and quality. In the future, SWM will adopt a European-designed, China-made mode. Supermotor, as we can see from its name, it has superior performance and fans’ affection. SWM is one of the few brands in China that produces supermotors. According to the official, the current SWM brand models not only retain the Italian quality of the main components, but also take into account some cost-effective features, making the product more suitable for domestic riders.
HANWAY, as a giant exporter before, has turned to domestic market in high profile from last year. A 500cc double-cylinder Bobber B50 was launched in the exhibition. The engine is developed by HANWAY itself, with the maximum power of 35 kw and the maximum torque of 45N·m. It is equipped with sliding clutch and Gates belt drive.
As the big brother in the official car field, JEDI MOTOR’s first large-displacement road cruising model JD750 was officially exhibited in Beijing. Its engine was jointly developed with a famous Italian power company, with the maximum power of 50.5 kw and the torque of 67N·m. It is equipped with the domestic first integrated low-pressure casting aluminum alloy frame, rear flat fork, KYB shock absorbers and Brembo braking, etc. The power configuration is first class.
JD750 is a leap for JEDI from the police market to the civil one. JEDI will be committed to the development and manufacturing of domestic civil motorcycles in the future, and improve the independent production queue of domestic large-displacement models.
With Chinese home brands’ continuous improvement in technology and product quality, there will be more high-end motorcycle products entering the global market in the future.
