Legalization Process of Low-speed EVs Accelerates
China – For a long time, due to the lack of national standards and clear management policies, low-speed electric vehicles have been struggling to survive in the market. They cannot be legally licensed and driven on the road in many provinces and cities. Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released great news.
On January 15, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology organized a symposium on regulating the management of low-speed electric vehicles, which focused on:
- Accelerate the study and formulation of normative policies and measures for low-speed electric vehicle management. This also means that new regulations on the management of low-speed electric vehicles will be introduced soon, and the legalization process of low-speed electric vehicles will be accelerated.
- Guide all provinces and cities to implement the responsibility of territorial management and take effective measures to regulate the low-speed electric vehicles to protect the safety of people’s lives and property. This indicates that the government supports the use of low-speed electric vehicles and will properly eliminate the substandard vehicles.
In August 2019, the Standardization Administration of China confirmed the formulation of national standards for low-speed electric four-wheeled vehicles in 24 months, which means national standards for low-speed electric vehicles will be announced soon in 2021.
