China – Why can hub motor (brushless) dominate the electric two-wheeler market? The core reason is that the manufacturing cost is low, and it can meet the needs of the current electric two-wheelers. Hub motor structure is relatively simple, and the production technology is not high.

Hub motors have the advantages of high energy conversion efficiency and save more power. In addition, its power output functions directly, needless of power transmission, thus brings more advantages in starting and acceleration.

However, the heat dissipation of the hub motors is a big problem. Once it gets too hot, it will burn the tire. Therefore, the mid-mounted motor appeared.

Why are mid-mounted motors becoming increasingly popular?

Mid-mounted motors are separately suspended under the body, connected to the rear wheel through a belt or chain, and has an independent cooling system. Therefore, it is more suitable for electric motorcycles with a top speed higher than 80km/h.

Mid-mounted motors deliver high speed, strong power, great control and a particularly good riding experience, but the high cost is a big problem.

In the next five years, young people born after 1990 and 2000 will become the main consumer group in the market. The demands for improvement of electric two-wheelers will increase, and the price sensitivity will decrease. Besides, the cost of the mid-mounted motors will be gradually reduced. All these factors will promote the consumption of mid- mounted motor electric two-wheelers.
