Motorcycle Production And Sales Hit A Record High In Q1 Growth
According to the statistics released by the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle (CCCM), China’s motorcycle industry continued to maintain a good momentum of development in March, with significant growth on month-on-month and year-on-year basis. Compared with the same period in 2019, the growth was obvious, hitting the record high in 7 years. The CCCM executive Vice President Li Bin analyzed that, this is due to the impact of the epidemic last year and the increasing market demand. The convenience of motorcycles has been widely recognized by consumers.
More than 4.6 million units were produced and sold, up 60% year on year
Data show that in March, the production and sales of China’s motorcycle industry were 1.856,000 and 1.842,900 units respectively, with a month-on-month growth of 87.14% and 75.07%, and a year-on-year growth of 29.31% and 33.65%. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles reached 1,647,200 and 1,634,200 units, with a year-on-year growth of 86.7% and 72.66%, and a year-on-year growth of 33.31% and 38.72%, respectively. The production and sales of fuel motorcycles reached 1,339,600 units and 1,331,700 units, up 73.81% and 60% from the previous month and 39.18% and 39.45% from the previous year; The production and sales of electric motorcycles reached 357,600 units and 354,100 units, up 181.75% and 173.15% from the previous month, and up 12.21% and 31.75% from the previous year.
From January to March, the production and sales of China’s motorcycle industry were 4,636,700 and 4,699,500 units respectively, with year-on-year growth of 60.17% and 60.38%. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles reached 4,080,700 and 4,144,800 units, up 60.57% and 60.96% year-on-year.
In terms of specific model, in March, the production and sales of standard bikes were 821,700 units and 826,100 units, with month-on-month growth of 77.15% and 68.63%, and year-on-year growth of 40.35% and 44.81%. The production and sales of scooters were 597,000 and 589,000 units, with monthly growth of 126.42% and 94.38%, and year-on-year growth of 26.46% and 34.12%. The production and sales of cubs reached 228,500 and 219,100 units, with monthly growth of 47.64% and 42.66%, and year-on-year growth of 49.48% and 49.04%.
From January to March, the production and sales of standard bikes reached 2,091,100 and 2,101,600 units, with year-on-year growth of 69.51% and 68.53%. The production and sales of scooters reached 1,412,000 units and 1,453,200 units, up 53.26% and 55.89% year-on-year; The production and sales of cubs were 577,600 units and 590,000 units, with year-on-year growth of 49.48% and 49.04%. The sales of standard bikes, scooters and cubs respectively accounted for 50.71%, 35.06% and 14.23% of the total sales of two-wheelers.
From January to March, the production and sales of 50cc series reached 174,500 units and 172,300 units, up 42.84% and 41.19% year-on-year. The production and sales of 110cc series reached 508,500 units and 507,600 units, with year-on-year growth of 43.68% and 34.62%. The production and sales of 125cc series reached 1,312,000 units and 1,367,200 units, with year-on-year growth of 72.73% and 71.73%. The production and sales of 150cc series reached 828,900 units and 848,100 units, with year-on-year growth of 69.05% and 69.71%. The production and sales of 250cc series reached 301,200 units and 308,800 units, with year-on-year growth of 78.34% and 82.74%.
From January to March, the production and sales of electric motorcycles were 876,500 and 860,100 units, with year-on-year growth of 45.17% and 53.81%.
From January to March, the top ten enterprises (groups) in the sales of fuel motorcycles were Dachangjiang, Loncin, Lifan, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Dayang, Wuyang-Honda, Sundiro-Honda, Dayun and Tayo, whose sales were 531,300 units, 314,600 units, 241,400 units, 213,700 units, 207,500 units, 200,400 units, 195,600 units, 176,100 units, 123,900 units and 101,100 units, respectively.
Export increased significantly
With the gradual control of the global epidemic, China’s motorcycle exports increased significantly for three consecutive months, the cumulative export volume reached the best level in recent years.
In March, the export volume of motorcycles reached 801,500 units, up 58.52% month-on-month and 54.42% year-on-year. The export value was USD500 million, up 62.44% month-on-month and 67.7% year-on-year. Among them, the export of two-wheeled motorcycles reached 752,300 units, up 57.48% month-on-month and 54.4% year-on-year.
From January to March, the export value of motorcycle manufacturers reached USD609 million, up 85.73% year on year. The export volume of motorcycles reached 2,120,300 units, up 72.32% year on year; the export value was USD500 million, up 83.89% year on year. The export volume of motorcycle engine totaled 336,300 units, up 18.01% year on year; the export value was USD50 million, up 24.84% year on year. The export volume of ATVS was 89,300 units, up 191.85% year on year, and the export value was USD170 million, up 191.82% year on year. The export value of motorcycle parts was USD44 million, up 52.52% year on year.
From January to March, the top five series in export volume are: 125cc, 150cc, 110cc, 250cc and 50cc series, reaching 712,000 units, 524,100 units, 347,900 units, 189,900 units and 112,600 units respectively, with year-on-year growth of 73.32%, 83.6%, 48.74%, 91.98% and 39.24%, respectively. From January to March, a total of 1,886,400 units of the above five series were exported, accounting for 94.59% of the total export of two-wheeled motorcycles.
From January to March, the top ten enterprises in motorcycle export volume were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, Tayo, Haojin, Dayang and Bashan. These ten enterprises exported 1,297,400 units, accounting for 61.18% of the total motorcycle export volume.
