At the latest edition of EICMA 2025, one of the most noteworthy new entries in the electric scooter segment was Yadea’s Velax. It is a model designed to combine everyday practicality, high performance, and comfort, supported by extensive fine-tuning and over one million tests, that contributed to both overall build quality and ride refinement.

Performance and energy management

Velax sits in the high-performance electric scooter category and is equipped with two removable 74V28Ah ATL lithium batteries, offering a range of up to 110 km. The Fast Charging version also offers a rapid charging system, reaching 80% in just 20 minutes, greatly improving everyday usability. The 3 kW motor, with a peak of 4.9 kW and 176 Nm of torque, delivers immediate and responsive acceleration. An ECO riding mode with regenerative braking is available, helping increase efficiency during city use. Energy management is handled by an advanced controller with more than 40 BMS protection layers, designed to ensure safety, performance, and battery longevity.

First impressions

In the outdoor areas of EICMA, we had the opportunity to carry out an initial quick test, which was obviously not sufficient to provide an in-depth assessment of its dynamic performance, but useful as an initial “feel” for how it handles. So, as soon as we got on the saddle Velax felt welcoming and comfortable, especially for riders of average height. The riding position is natural and relaxed, with a seat-to-floorboard distance that keeps the knees in a forward and unstressed posture. The wide and flat floorboard makes foot placement easy. It may feel a bit less comfortable for taller riders, who could find limited space between legs and handlebar, especially during wide, low-speed steering angles.

Dominating the front area is a large and clear display that provides various information, including separate battery charge levels. The user experience is enhanced by smart features such as Bluetooth access and the YADEA App. The app also allows digital key sharing for up to five authorized users, a convenient option for families or shared business use.

Once moving, agility is one of the most noticeable strengths. Its low weight, steering geometry, and balanced distribution allow quick direction changes, perfect for urban traffic. Even stationary operations, such as lifting it onto the center stand, are surprisingly light. This feature makes it suitable for both beginners and those looking for practicality, making it an interesting choice for female consumers as well. Under the seat, there is a spacious and well-shaped storage compartment, and a dedicated access panel makes it easy to reach the two removable batteries.

Braking is handled by 220 mm disc brakes with a CBS system, offering smooth and progressive control. It inspires confidence right away, and even in sudden deceleration, the scooter remains stable without harsh dive or unwanted reactions. This setup supports a comfortable transition for those new to electric mobility.
