China’s Motorcycle Industry in January:Increased Significantly Production & Sales , the Best Monthly Export Volume in Recent Years
According to the statistics of the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce (CCCM), China’s motorcycle production and sales increased significantly year-on-year in January. The fuel-powered motorcycles rebound in the Chinese market, and foreign trade exports have increased significantly. Export volume has been the largest monthly export volume in recent years. The overall rebound in domestic and foreign markets has laid a good start for the sustainable development of China’s motorcycle industry this year.
Production & Sales
In January, according to statistics from the Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 1.2903 million and 1.2967 million units respectively, a month-on-month increase of 23.23% and 28.94%, and a year-on-year increase of 66.58% and 56.45%. The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 227,000 and 218,800 units. , production and sales decreased by 19.45% and 18.40% month-on-month, output increased by 7.92% year-on-year, and sales decreased by 2.84% year-on-year. The entire industry produced and sold a total of 1.5173 million and 1.5156 million motorcycles respectively in January, a month-on-month increase of 4.79% and 9.04%, and a year-on-year increase of 54.06% and 43.78%. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) produced and sold 39,200 and 38,600 units, a month-on-month increase of 5.95% in production and a month-on-month increase of 8.12% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 70.43% in production and 55.69% in sales. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 185,800 and 186,400 respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 6.46% and a 4.52%, and a year-on-year increase of 53.11% and 44.95%.
In January, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang (159.400 units), Loncin (130.000 units), Zongshen (80,900 units), Tayo (72,300 units), Yinxiang (57,400 units), Louyang North (50,300 units), Sundiro-Honda (50,000 units), Wuyang-Honda (46,500 units), HAOJIN (46,430 units), and Qingqi Suzuki (39,500 units).
In January, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea (2.0963 million units), Zongshen (550,900 units), Luyuan (534,400 units), Sunra (381,000 units), Huaihai (347,700 units), Bus New Energy (168,400 units), Wuxing (119,100 units), Tailg (90,100 units), Loncin (59,800 units), and BODO (46,800 units).
Export Situation
In January, according to statistics from the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce, China’s motorcycle exports still improve steadily last year, with exports increasing significantly month-on-month and year-on-year. Foreign trade exports achieved a good start, with export volume reaching the best single-month export volume in recent years.
In January, 871,100 motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 16.13% and a year-on-year increase of 95.3%; the export value was US$576 million, a month-on-month increase of 21.01% and a year-on-year increase of 80.89%. Among them, 828,700 two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, an increase of 18.35% month-on-month and an increase 98.08% year-on-year; 42,400 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 15.01% month-on-month and 53.28% year-on-year.
In January, the total export volume of motorcycle manufacturers was US$7.09 billion, a year-on-year increase of 70.21%. Motorcycle engine exports were 103,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 32.13%, and the export value was US$33 million, a year-on-year increase of 83.4%. The export volume of ATVs was 31,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 30.17%, and the export value was US$70 million, a year-on-year increase of 20.09%. The export value of motorcycle parts was US$301 million, a year-on-year increase of 37.73%.
In January, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Tayo, Yinxiang, Zongshen, Haojin, Sundiro-Honda, Guangzhou Tianma, QJMOTOR, and Luoyang Northern Group. The above 10 companies exported a total of 4.4752 million units, accounting for 59.05% of total motorcycle exports.
