China’s Fuel Motorcycle in May: Continuous Optimized Product Structure & Foreign Export
In May, China’s motorcycle production and sales increased slightly month-on-month and year-on-year, with foreign trade exports increasing, and domestic sales in May is the same as that in April. From January to May, driven by exports, fuel motorcycles maintained significant growth with the continuous optimized product structure, and the growth of large-displacement leisure and entertainment motorcycles above 250ml increased significantly, which reflects the motorcycle industry continued to improve.
Production & Sales
In May, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 1,461,300 and 1,448,100 units respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 0.23% in production and a month-on-month increase of 0.54% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 11.58% and 9.82%. The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 307,200 and 331,300 units respectively, a month-on-month increase of 2.97% and 5.39%, and a year-on-year decrease of 22% in production and a year-on-year increase of 3.98% in sales. The entire industry produced and sold a total of 1,768,400 and 1,779,400 motorcycles respectively in May, a month-on-month increase of 0.31% and 1.41%, and a year-on-year increase of 3.82% and 8.68%. The production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 1,562,200 and 1,570,100 respectively in May, a month-on-month increase of 1.64% and 2.6%, and a year-on-year increase of 3.5% and 8.43%. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) produced and sold 79,700 and 77,200 units, a month-on-month increase of 11.62% in production and 6.34% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 57.51% in production and 57.55% in sales. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 206,200 and 209,300 respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 8.71% and 6.75%, and a year-on-year increase of 6.27% and 10.58%.
From January to May, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 6.4127 million and 6.3938 million units, a year-on-year increase of 11.58% and 10.03%. Electric motorcycle production and sales were 1.2976 million and 1.3226 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 51.42% and 43.25%. From January to May, the total production and sales of motorcycles were 7.7103 million and 7.7163 million, down 8.41% and 5.22% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 6.7356 million and 6.7359 million, down 9.59% and 6.05% year-on-year. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) were 265,200 and 265,400, up 31.61% and 25.07% year-on-year, respectively. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 974,600 and 980,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 0.65% and 0.88%.
From January to April, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang, Loncin , Zongshen. Yinxiang,Tayo, Sundiro-Honda, Luoyang Northern Group, Haojin , Wuyang-Honda, and Summit Motor. 10 companies mentioned above sold a total of 3,576,900 motorcycles, accounting for 55.94% of the total sales of motorcycles.
From January to May, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea (593,600 units), Zongshen (185,000 units), Luyuan (135,600 units), Sunra (94,700 units), Huaihai (79,100 units), Bus New Energy (58,900 units), Wuxing (27,400 units), Tailg (24,300 units), Jinyi (22,300 units), and Loncin (21,800 units).
Export Situation
In May, China’s motorcycle foreign trade exports continued to maintain a good growth momentum, and the export volume increased significantly year-on-year and month-on-month. From January to May, the cumulative export volume has increased substantially, with the optimized export product structure and the rapid growth of large-displacement motorcycles above 250ml. China’s motorcycle foreign trade exports continues to have a promising future.
In May, 943,200 motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 2.22% and a year-on-year increase of 20.44%; the export value was US$620 million, a month-on-month increase of 6.71% and a year-on-year increase of 14.74%. Among them, 906,400 two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a increase of 1.41% month-on-month and an increase 20.69% year-on-year; 36,800 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 27.32% month-on-month and 14.68% year-on-year.
From January to May, the total export volume of motorcycle manufacturers was US$3.369 billion, a year-on-year increase of 20.84%. The export volume of complete vehicles was 4.1602 million units, a year-on-year increase of 29.84%, and the export value was US$ 2.68 billion, a year-on-year increase of 21.69%. Motorcycle engine exports were 460,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 13.96%, and the export value was US$ 102 million, a year-on-year increase of 10.88%. The export volume of ATVs was 171,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 27.38%, and the export value was US$435 million, a year-on-year increase of 21.19%. The export value of motorcycle parts was US$ 152 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.78%.
From January to May, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Yinxiang, Tayo, Haojin, Zongshen, Summit Motor, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan,and DAYUN. The above 10 companies exported a total of 2.4695 million units, accounting for 59.36% of total motorcycle exports.
