On December 24, the 8th Member Congress of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle was grandly held. The conference conducted a comprehensive and thorough review and summary of the industry development status in 2024, and also looked forward to the industry development trends in 2025.

Mr. Zhang Yuyu from the Foreign Trade Department of the Ministry of Commerce, Senior Engineer Ji Ou from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, Inspector Fu Zonglun from the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission, Deputy Director Luo Tengfei of the Automobile Department of the Chongqing Economic and Information Technology Commission, Deputy Director Zhao Lei of the Foreign Trade Promotion Department of the Chongqing Commerce Commission, Vice President Yang Xuchao of the Chongqing Council for the Promotion of International Trade and other leaders attended the meeting. Zuo Zongshen, President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle, Li Bin, Executive Vice President, and Zhang Hongbo, Secretary-General, attended the meeting. The conference also specially invited Professor Bai Jinfu, Dean of the Digital Economy Research Institute of Beijing Technology and Business University, and Professor Li Daokui of Tsinghua University to give special reports. MEGA CHINAMOTOR and more than 165 member companies from the upstream and downstream industrial chain of the motorcycle industry gathered together to plan for the sustained prosperity and innovative development of China’s motorcycle industry through exchange and discussion.

During the meeting, Vice President Li gave a comprehensive introduction to the development of China’s motorcycle industry in 2024. “In 2024, China’s economic development faced a complex situation with multiple intertwined pressures, and the uncertainty of the external environment still existed, which brought continuous challenges to China’s economy. Domestic demand for China’s motorcycle industry has slowed down, but China’s domestic motorcycle market, with its huge consumer base and diversified consumer needs, has great development potential in leisure and entertainment, intelligence, and greening; at the same time, benefiting from the in-depth promotion of China’s Belt and Road Initiative and the continued demand for motorcycle products in the global market, China’s motorcycle products, with their extremely high cost-effectiveness, have maintained a strong growth momentum in foreign trade exports, with a record high cumulative export volume, which has strongly driven the overall growth of the industry.

From January to November 2024, China’s motorcycle industry sold a total of 18,164,500 motorcycles, a year-on-year increase of 0.67%. Among them, 14,963,100 fuel motorcycles were sold, a year-on-year increase of 11.69%; according to incomplete statistics, 3,201,500 electric motorcycles were sold, a year-on-year decrease of 29.55%.

In terms of exports, from January to November, the total export value of motorcycle manufacturers’ products was USD 7.932 billion, a year-on-year increase of 23.36%. Among them: the export volume of complete vehicles was 9,962,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 26.13%, and the export value was USD 6.281 billion, a year-on-year increase of 22.06%;

The export of motorcycle engines was 1,037,400 units, a year-on-year increase of 20.15%, and the export value was USD 218 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.44%;

The export of beach cars was 442,200 units, a year-on-year increase of 31.02%, and the export value was USD 1.076 billion, a year-on-year increase of 34.91%;

The export value of motorcycle parts was USD 356 million, a year-on-year increase of 18.03%.

From January to November, the top ten enterprises in China’s motorcycle export volume were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Tayo, Haojin, Yinxiang, Zongshen, Zhufeng, Sundiro-Honda, Lifan, and Rato. The above ten companies exported a total of 6,006,700 units, accounting for 60.29% of the total motorcycle exports.”

During the meeting, Secretary-General Zhang made a work report of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle in 2024 and a financial report of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle in 2024 to the congress; reported to the congress and submitted the “Proposal on Supplementing the 4th Council Units of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle”.

Secretary-General Zhang Hongbo said that in 2024, the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle actively promoted the development of the industry under the complex economic situation and achieved excellent results in various aspects. The Chamber took party building as the lead, carried out investigation and research, grasped the latest situation of enterprises, actively communicated with government departments, put forward policy suggestions, strived for a fairer and more just development environment for the industry, and carried out various aspects of work, continuing to call for solving the ban and restriction of motorcycles; built platforms, expanded external exchanges, and enhanced the industry’s influence.

In addition, the Three-Wheeler Branch, International Development Branch, Equipment Branch, and Technical Expert Committee of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle respectively reported to the congress on the development of the branch work in 2024 and the work plan for 2025.

It is worth mentioning that Professor Li Daokui of Tsinghua University interpreted the development trend of the national economic situation in 2025 for everyone through an online video. Professor Li said that 2025 is an important turning point for China’s economy, and it will be a year when the economy will feel warmer and a year when the motorcycle industry will rebound, which is worth looking forward to.

Finally, Zuo Zongshen, President of the China Chamber of Commerce for Motorcycle, delivered a concluding speech at the conference. He said that the world economy is in a period of change, and motorcycles, as a means of transportation widely used around the world, have huge potential in electrification, intelligence, and other aspects. The motorcycle industry is confident in overcoming the current difficulties and challenges and jointly promoting the motorcycle industry to enter a new stage of development.
