China’s Motorcycle Industry in November:Increasing Foreign Trade Exports and Domestic Market Demand
According to the statistics of the China Motorcycle Chamber of Commerce (CCCM), due to foreign trade exports in November, China’s fuel motorcycle sales increased month-on-month and year-on-year, and the domestic demand has been improved. From January to November, the cumulative sales of fuel motorcycles maintained a slight increase, and foreign trade exports continued to rebound.
Production & Sales
In November, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 1.1642 million and 1.1554 million units, a month-on-month decrease of 6.63% and 2.51%, and a year-on-year decrease of 18.11% in production and a year-on-year increase of 20.04% in sales. Electric motorcycle production and sales were 266,300 and 245,500 units, output decreased by 26.75%and 29.55% month-on-month, and decreased by 42.77% and 45.44% year-on-year. The entire industry produced and sold a total of 1.4305 million and 1.4009 million motorcycles respectively in November,a month-on-month decrease of 1.71% and 5.06%, and a year-on-year decrease of 1.41% and 0.82%. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) produced and sold 37,900 and 38,500 units, a month-on-month decrease of 6.77% in production and a month-on-month decrease of 9.38% in sales, and a year-on-year decrease of 20.32% in production and 42.59% in sales.
From January to October, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 12.9840 million and 13.0537 million units, a year-on-year increase of 3.4% and 3.04%. Electric motorcycle production and sales were 4.9839 million and 4.5431 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 29.82% and 36.09%. From January to November, the entire industry produced and sold a total of 17.9679 million and 17.5968 million motorcycles, down 8.6% and 11.2% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 15.7729 million and 15.4015 million, down 10.11% and 12.77% year-on-year. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) were 474,800 and 489,600, down 9.3% and 7.17% year-on-year, respectively. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 2.195 million and 2.1953 million units, a year-on-year increase of 4% and 3.56%.
From January to November, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang (1.7269 million units), Loncin (1.1944 units), Zongshen (779,500 units), Sundiro-Honda (702,900 units), Dayang (600,300 units), Wuyang-Honda (554,600 units), Tayo (534,200 units), Yinxiang (485,900 units), Dayun (450,000 units), and Qingqi Suzuki (386,400 units).
From January to November, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea (2.0963 million units), Luyuan (550,900 units), Tailg (534,400 units), Sunra (381,000 units), Zongshen (347,700 units), Huaihai (168,400 units), Bus New Energy (119,100 units), Jinyi (90,100 units), Lovol (59,800 units), and Loncin (46,800 units).
Export Situation
In November, China’s motorcycle exports rose month-on-month, affected by the low base in the same period last year, maintained a substantial year-on-year growth, and the monthly export volume remained at a high level in recent years. Since the beginning of this year, China’s motorcycle foreign trade exports have been relatively stable, and the cumulative export volume from January to November has increased significantly.
In November, 743,100 motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month increase of 7.68% and a year-on-year increase of 42.94%; the export value was US$460 million, a month-on-month increase of 11.64% and a year-on-year increase of 31.28%. Among them, 700,800 two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, an increase of 6.03% month-on-month and an increase 43.32% year-on-year; 42,200 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, an increase of 45.27% month-on-month and 36.92% year-on-year.
From January to November, the total export volume of motorcycle manufacturers was US$6.28 billion, a year-on-year increase of 0.48%, with the growth to resume. The export volume of complete vehicles was 7.5787 million units, a year-on-year increase of 8.18%, and the export value was US$4.997 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.34%. Motorcycle engine exports were 863,200 units, a year-on-year increase of 7.27%, and the export value was US$184 million, a year-on-year decrease of 0.56%. The export volume of ATVs was 337,500 units, a year-on-year decrease of 8.46%, and the export value was US$789 million, a year-on-year decrease of 10.54%. The export value of motorcycle parts was US$301 million, a year-on-year increase of 3.71%.
From January to November, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Tayo, Zongshen, Yinxiang, Sundiro-Honda, Haojin, Lifan, Dayun, and Bashan. The above 10 companies exported a total of 4.4752 million units, accounting for 59.05% of total motorcycle exports.
