On June 18, 2021, the “Fourth Batch of Provincial Industrial Design Center List” was officially published on the website of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Guangdong Province. On June 28, Guangzhou Sanya Motorcycle Co., Ltd. (SANYA) was officially recognized as “provincial industrial design center” by virtue of 26 years of technology precipitation and innovation. This could be seen as another step up after SANYA was recognized as the “Municipal Industrial Design Center” in 2019.

Transformation and upgrading – recognized as the“provincial industrial design center”

Guangdong Industrial Design Center is a comprehensive design and development service platform for the whole province with industrial design, rapid prototyping and other advanced manufacturing technologies.  The recognized enterprises are those with strong industrial design innovation ability and standardized management ability.

Since its establishment in 1995, SANYA has been actively transforming and upgrading in line with the development of the industry and launching high-quality products which are up to national standards.

From the original “national standard II” to “national standard III” motorcycle, from launching SANYA 3G swirl engine technology motorcycle to the current stage of “national standard IV” and more environmentally-friendly EFI technology motorcycle, SANYA is still on its way.

Now, a number of electric vehicles in line with the “new national standard” provide users with more diversified options for legal cycling and licensing. The certification of “provincial industrial design center” is also a spur for SANYA.

Strict provincial threshold made the high quality

In addition to meeting the “hard power” conditions such as history, test conditions, R&D personnel and infrastructure, the selected enterprise industrial design center should also have “soft power” such as organizational system, management mechanism and R&D investment of industrial design center.

SANYA attaches great importance to product research and technological innovation. It has international advanced research and development testing equipment, which covers the whole process of developing, testing and production. The annual research and development investment accounts for 3%-5% of the revenue. The independent research and development products have won “Governor’s Cup” and other industrial design competitions above the provincial level for many times. It has more than 400 patented technologies, which made it won the title of “Guangdong Manufacturing Top 500” for five consecutive years, and it has got the title of “National Intellectual Property Advantage Enterprise” by virtue of its strong R&D, innovation and intellectual property management strength. The strict threshold of recognition proves that the honor is more valuable.

Provincial recognition escorts the “five-year strategic plan”

As an industry senior two-wheeler manufacturer and export brand, SANYA put forward the “five-year strategic plan” in 2020. It is clear that the focus of development is innovation and research and development mechanism. For one thing, the unremitting research and development of new products and new technologies should keep close to the market trend and take export as the main business. For another, domestic sales will be to promote independent research and development of high-end product series, to achieve production and sales volume of more than 500,000 vehicles in 2025.

Guangdong industrial design center aims to promote enterprise technology innovation, product innovation and transformation of scientific and technological achievements, which coincides with SANYA’s “five-year strategic plan”. The recognition of the “provincial industrial design center” is speeding up the realization of the “five-year strategic plan”, and it also promotes the quality of two wheelers and the industry upgrading transformation. It has actively responded to the national strategic deployment of “Made in China 2025”.
