On May 30 2020, YADEA’s Salient Pole motor (permanent magnet synchronous hub motor) technology passed expert appraisal, and the electric motorcycle equipped with with this technology was tested by Shanghai Motorcycle Inspection Center. The cruising range of the electric motorcycle was greatly improved compared with similar products and reached the international advanced level.

The chief engineer of YADEA’s R&D Center of Product Technology Institute Zhuo Dajun introduced at the appraising meeting that the salient pole motor adopts SPOKE and split-joint structure, and the hub uses non-magnetic SMC reinforced composite plastic and integrated high precision sensor technology, thus the motor performance is improved in various aspects. The light SMC reinforced composite plastics simplify the assembly process and improve product reliability and production efficiency. By adopting the control strategy based on the optimal current trajectory and using the technology of segmented MTPA and MTPV, the high-precision torque control in the full working range is improved and the system efficiency is improved comprehensively.

According to the inspection of the National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Motor Vehicle Products Quality (Shanghai), the motor has showed obvious range extension effect (tested under the uniform velocity method and by model test in accordance with GB/T24157). The practical application also shows that the cruising range of the electric motorcycle has increased significantly.

Experts of the appraisal committee unanimously agreed to qualify the motor technology, and believed that this project will solve the problem of inadequate cruising range and power with electric motorcycles. This is a breakthrough in the range extension technology of permanent magnet synchronous hub motor for electric motorcycles. The manufacturing process and energy efficiency of permanent magnet synchronous hub motor have reached the international advanced level. Therefore, this motor technology should be greatly promoted in the market.
