CFMOTO Claims Moto2 Podium Finish with Third Place at Mugello

The 2026 MotoGP Italian Grand Prix has concluded at the iconic Mugello Circuit, delivering a weekend of both challenges and rewards for the CFMOTO Aspar Team. While the squad was unable to replicate its recent dominance in the Moto3 class, Moto2 rider Daniel Holgado secured a valuable podium finish, bringing home important championship points for the team.

In the Moto2 race, Holgado launched from the front two rows and quickly established himself within the leading group. Throughout the race, the Spaniard remained firmly in podium contention, demonstrating impressive race management and a mature riding style under constant pressure from both the demanding circuit and his rivals. During the closing laps, Holgado engaged in several intense battles before executing a decisive overtaking move near the finish, ultimately crossing the line in third place and earning another Moto2 podium result.

According to the official race results, Holgado finished behind race winner Manuel Gonzalez and home favorite Celestino Vietti. The podium marked another strong result in his 2026 campaign and further strengthened his position among the frontrunners in the Moto2 World Championship standings.

On the other side of the CFMOTO Aspar Team, fellow Moto2 rider David Alonso endured a more difficult race. Struggling to find his ideal rhythm throughout the event, he was unable to challenge the front runners. Nevertheless, he completed the race and gathered valuable data that could prove beneficial in the upcoming rounds.

In Moto3, Máximo Quiles faced a more demanding race after a string of impressive performances in recent races. An unfavorable qualifying result left the young Spaniard with work to do on Sunday. Although he remained within reach of the leading group for much of the race, he lost ground during the fierce battles in the closing stages and eventually finished 11th. Despite missing out on a top-ten result, Quiles successfully retained his lead in the Moto3 Riders’ Championship standings.

Overall, while the CFMOTO Aspar Team fell short of achieving podium finishes in both classes at Mugello, Holgado’s strong Moto2 performance once again highlighted the team’s competitiveness in the intermediate category. As the championship enters a crucial phase of the season, CFMOTO Aspar will continue its pursuit of stronger results on both the Moto2 and Moto3 fronts.
