China’s Fuel Motorcycle From January to February: Continuous Growth Setting a Record in the Same Period for Foreign Trade Exports
In February, affected by the Spring Festival holiday, China’s motorcycle production and sales declined month-on-month and year-on-year. From January to February, the overall sales of fuel motorcycles continued to grow significantly because of exports, but the electric motorcycles declined obviously. Motorcycle exports maintain a good development trend, the cumulative export volume in January and February reached a record in the same period, the overall demand of the domestic motorcycle market slowed down significantly, but some large-displacement leisure motorcycles still achieved sales growth.
Production & Sales
In February, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 746,800 and 798,000 units respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 42.16% and 38.5%, and a year-on-year decrease of 26.96% and 21.26%. The production and sales of electric motorcycles were 124,200 and 123,400 units respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 45.28% and 43.63%, and a year-on-year decrease of 83.89% and 83.04%. The entire industry produced and sold a total of 757,700 and 804,900 two-wheeled motorcycles respectively in February, a month-on-month decrease of 43.13% and 39.48%, and a year-on-year decrease of 52.36% and 47.66%. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) produced and sold 17,900 and 24,600 units, a month-on-month decrease of 54.33% in production and 36.1% in sales, and a year-on-year increase of 42.07% in production and 42.07% in sales. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 299,100 and 302,900 respectively, a month-on-month decrease of 38.98% and a 37.54%, and a year-on-year decrease of 44.19% and 42.65%.
From January to February, fuel motorcycle production and sales were 2.038 million and 2.0955 million units, a year-on-year increase of 13.4% and 13.74%. Electric motorcycle production and sales were 351,300 and 342,200 units, a year-on-year decrease of 64.82% and 64.08%. From January to February, the total production and sales were 2.1348 million and 2.4377 million, down 14.01% and 12.78% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of two-wheeled motorcycles were 2.0901 million and 2.1348 million, down 14.83% and 13.34% year-on-year. The production and sales of large-displacement recreational motorcycles (displacement >250CC) were 572,000 and 631,000, up 5.73% and 10.31% year-on-year, respectively. The production and sales of three-wheeled motorcycles were 2.991 million and 3.029 million units, a year-on-year decrease of 7.8% and 8.68%.
From January to February, the top 10 fuel motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Dachangjiang (254,700 units), Loncin (199,400 units), Zongshen (130,200 units), Yinxiang(107,100 units),Tayo (97,300 units), Wuyang-Honda (86,700 units), Sundiro-Honda (85,400 units), Luoyang Northern Group (83,600 units), Haojin (74,900 units), and Qingqi Suzuki (68,800 units).
From January to February, the top 10 electric motorcycle sales companies (groups) were Yadea (147,300 units), Zongshen (47,300 units), Luyuan (40,400 units), Huaihai(24,2units), Sunra (24,100 units), Bus New Energy (17,200 units), Wuxing (7,300 units), Tailg (7,000 units), Loncin (64,000 units), and Jinyi (4,000 units).
Export Situation
In February, China’s motorcycle foreign trade exports continued to maintain a good development trend, the export volume increased slightly year-on-year, and declined greatly month-on-month because of Spring Festival holiday. The cumulative export volume in January and February reached a record in the same period, and motorcycle foreign trade exports made a good start.
In February, 515,200 motorcycles were exported, a month-on-month decrease of 40.91% and a year-on-year increase of 5.02%; the export value was US$343 million, a month-on-month decrease of 40.37% and a year-on-year decrease of 2.15%. Among them, 409,500 two-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 40.86% month-on-month and an increase 6.8% year-on-year; 24,600 three-wheeled motorcycles were exported, a decrease of 41.86% month-on-month and 21.18% year-on-year.
From January to February, the total export volume of motorcycle manufacturers was US$1.143 billion, a year-on-year increase of 31.8%. The export volume of complete vehicles was 1.387 million units, a year-on-year increase of 48.1%, and the export value was US$ 0.919 billion, a year-on-year increase of 37.38%. Motorcycle engine exports were 172,500 units, a year-on-year increase of 36.68%, and the export value was US$ 39 million, a year-on-year increase of 19.88%. The export volume of ATVs was 579,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 21.91%, and the export value was US$131 million, a year-on-year increase of 6.49%. The export value of motorcycle parts was US$ 53 million, a year-on-year increase of 26.44%.
From January to February, the top 10 motorcycle exporting companies were: Loncin, Dachangjiang, Yinxiang, Tayo, Zongshen, Haojin, Sundiro-Honda, Guangzhou Tianma, SANYA and Lifan. The above 10 companies exported a total of 814,300 units, accounting for 58.71% of total motorcycle exports.
