Now product segmentation is very complete in the motorcycle market, such as small daily commuting scooters, race-aping scooters, ADV scooters, etc. The most common models are 125cc scooters.

Background

Early last year, Kymco released three blockbuster products, namely the S350, the CKD version AK550 and the New Many125 imported from Taiwan. At that time, the New Many125 was sold at a price equivalent to RMB18,800 in Taiwan, but the imported product price was only RMB16,880. The pricing delighted and puzzled many scooter fans. That was the original pricing Kymco set for the New Many125 CKD version, and over 300 units were introduced from Taiwan to the Mainland market. The New Many125 products currently on sale are all the CKD version.

Appearance

The New Many125 is of the Italian style with artistic and retro flavor. It has a rounded shaped compact body, simple lines and painting. Simple and round features the entire body. The front face is still a minimalist style, LED daily running lights are on all the time, and the turn lights are well integrated with the body. A a round headlight, round chrome-plated mirrors and brown-red leather seat cushion, all those factors make a cute scooter

It has a body size of 1710*671*1070mm, wheelbase of 1195mm, ground clearance of 120mm, and a curb weight of 103kg. A 150cm rider can easily touch the ground. Its ground clearance is relatively high among scooters of the same level.

Configurations

The U-shaped daily running light is always on, and the round headlight is automatically turned on when the scooter is started, which is a good design for the users who often forget to turn on the light. The taillights are also LED and have a diffused design that improves nighttime visibility, but the turn lights are halogen bulbs.

The instrument panel is a digital LCD, displaying complete riding data as well as turn signal, ABS indicator, engine indicator, fuel level and time. It should be mentioned here that the New Many125 has the same turn signal prompt tone as a car.

The handlebar buttons are textured and very cute, with smooth operation.The overtaking light is a plus. The handlebar may be a little short for boys with big hands.

The New Many125’s fuel tank capacity is 5.5L. The preposed fuel tank is more convenient for refueling, saves more space, and most importantly results in a more coordinated weight distribution.

The New Many125 is equipped with Continental dual-channel ABS. Moreover, it adopts ventilated disc brake with large discs and double callipers, so that braking is more sensitive and safer.

It is worth mentioning that there are very few scooters at this displacement level that are equipped with dual-channel ABS. Safety configuration is a most important thing in choosing a vehicle.

It has rear double shock absorbers, with enhanced performance and stability. The tire size is 90-90-10 at front and back, which is enough for urban riding. Small tires are more flexible and fuel-efficient.

As mentioned above, the New Many125 has a curb weight of only 103kg, lighter than most mainstream scooters of the same level. For girls weigh 44kg, it is very easy to walk and support the scooter.

The New Many125 is equipped with a single-cylinder air-cooled four-stroke engine with an actual displacement of 121cc, a maximum power of 7kw and a maximum torque of 8.3N.m.

Practical details

Small commuting scooter highlight practicability. First, thanks to the preposed fuel tank, the under-seat space is one of the best in its class, and there is room for gloves after holding a retro 3/4-face helmet. The pedal space comfortably designed.

The front storage box is large enough for a pair of gloves when a bottle of mineral water is put inside, and a flat area is designed for mobile phones, power banks and so on. It seems that this flat design is also related to the USB interface. The New Many125 has a USB interface near the keyhole, and the USB interface has a power indicator. Moreover, the New Many125 provides two hidden hooks, respectively next to the key hole and in front of the cushion, convenient and practical. The rear mud guard adopts double fender design, which can better prevent mud and water in rainy days to better protect the wiring harness.

On the road

The first thing to say is the seat height, which is really friendly to girls. A 150cm rider can touch the ground and feel very safe. Thanks to the 103kg curb weight and 1195mm wheelbase, it feels very agile and confident when making turns and passing narrow roads. Vibration is properly controlled–small shaking from idle to high-rev.

Scooters such as the New Many125 is not about immense power. But for the most part, the New Many125 is more powerful in the middle and front-rev range. The actually top speed reading on the dash is 88km/h. The fuel consumption for 100km was 2.36L in practical riding.
