Qianjiang K-Light 202 Dynamic Test Review
In the previous issues, we introduced the static characteristics of Qianjiang K-Light 202, which is a promising model. What about its actually riding experience?
About vibration
The performance of the K-Light 202 was somewhat unexpected. First of all, the vibration from the cushion does not disturb the riding at all. Whether riding at a low speed or accelerating at a high rev, the rider will not feel any discomfort. Secondly, the response of the handlebar is also good — the rider does not feel any numbness in the palm after a whole-day riding. In addition, the pedals are closer to the front, away from the engine, so there is not much vibration.
For several long-range riding, we were not bothered by the vibration, which comes naturally and is evenly distributed among the rev range. It is a slightly vibrative sports experience.
About friendliness
K-Light 202 is easy to operate, both for beginners and female riders, as it has a seat height of 715mm, a wheelbase of 1440mm, a weight of 156kg, and a relatively flat handlebar. It is obviously very easy to handle.
About feel
K-Light 202 has a nice appearance. Compared with the traditional cruisers, it is more compact and dynamic, providing a smooth and neat riding feeling. The unique feel is easier to satisfy the users.
Among the same class of small displacement products, the motorcycle’s powertrain is a most suitable match.
The K-Light 202’s power is relatively matched with the vehicle itself in the same class of small displacement field.
About power
K-Light 202 carries a single cylinder air-oil cooled engine with a displacement of 197cc. The maximum power is 9.5kw/7500rpm. Its maximum torque is 13.5N•m. The curb weight is 156kg. Thus, the initial acceleration is good.
Actual test data:

400m acceleration |
Time | 7.7s@71.1km/h | 20.4s@94.5km/h |
20.4s@94.5km/h |
Due to the limitation of engine characteristics, the tested extreme speed is 104.4km/h (a distance of about 1000 meters). From the positioning point of view, this motorcycle needs not to pursue high speed, nor high-rev performance. Simple and rough power release and slightly rough gear switch actually bring more fun.
However, the transmission system needs to be improved. From 2nd to 5th gear, the travel of the gearshifting was felt long and rough. In addition to the original setting of the clutch, the structure of the shift lever also leads to the long travel.
About brake
K-Light 202 has front and rear disc brakes: the front calipers with three pistons and the rear with dual pistons; a CBS is provided. During the actual test riding, the performance of the rear brake alone is very stable, and the body hardly shows any sidesway, bringing the rider better security and more confidence.
About handling
Cruisers usually do not have as good handling as street models, but K-Light 202 impresses firstly by being easy to ride: flexible control, not clumsy, having sports fun. The characteristic tires (front 17 inches/rear 15 inches), together with the quality front and rear shock absorbers greatly improve the riding experience.
K-Light 202 performs well at curves, with clear and stable track. The foot position is suitable for curve riding, and the handlebar opening is just comfortable. The low center of gravity and the proper wheelbase ensure better stability. There is too much pressure for cornering.
The front and rear shock absorbers are in a harder setting. Although there are some bumps on the potholed road, it gives enough confidence during riding. The entire suspension system is well matched with the frame, competent even at high inclination bends.
During the test ride, K-Light 202 showed satisfying curve performance, but the flameout-on-side support device was broken.
There are not many scenes for K-Light 202’s extreme cornering. More often, it will be used for easy and comfortable travel. Even on the congested urban roads, because of its flexibility and lightness, it can move through traffics as easily as a lightweight street model.
Conclusion
K-Light 202 is not an aggressive sports motorcycle, although it moves impressively. It is also not a very well-behaved motorcycle. All in all, it’s a little niche, a little interesting, and has the potential to be attractive. (Source: WeChat: qjmotor)
